The present disclosure relates to a process for producing linear alpha olefins in high yield carried out by oligomerization of ethylene in the presence of a novel catalyst composition. The catalyst composition includes Zirconium compound, an organoaluminum compound, and at least one Lewis base selected from cyclic and acyclic ethers (i.e., di-n-butyl ether and diethyl ether). The process for oligomerization of ethylene is carried out in an inert organic solvent in the presence of said catalyst composition. The process as disclosed herein provides significantly high activity of the said catalyst composition resulting in high yield of the alpha olefins (>95 wt. %) as the product and significantly minimum polymer as by-product. The process provides higher yield of C6-C10 fraction with >60 wt. %.

The present invention describes a process for controlling particle size of a catalyst composition. The process comprising the steps of contacting an internal donor with an organomagnesium precursor solution to form an intermediate solution and treating the intermediate solution with a transition metal compound to form a catalyst composition, wherein particle size of the catalyst composition is controlled by controlling a contact time of the internal donor with the precursor solution during formation of the intermediate solution.

The present invention provides a process of catalytic depolymerization of polystyrene involving a spherical catalyst, an apparatus for carrying out the depolymerization, recovering the aromatic rich liquid product and recycling the catalyst without any decrease in the catalytic performance. Further, the present invention provides that the aromatic rich liquid product includes styrene, xylene, benzene, ethyl benzene, with styrene content greater than 65%. Additionally, the catalyst involved in the depolymerization process is a spherical catalyst that is easily recovered from coke/char formed during the process and is recycled and reused without any decrease in the catalytic performance.

The present invention provides a method for producing highly reactive polyisobutylene by liquid phase polymerization of isobutylene or isobutylene containing feed stock, wherein at least 70 mole % of polymer chains in the polyisobutylene have exo olefin end groups. Further, the present invention provides a catalyst composition for polymerization, comprising of a Lewis acid complexed with at least two Lewis bases selected from sterically hindered ether and linear dialkyl ether; or a Lewis base complexed with at least two Lewis acids selected from aluminium halides mixture. The present invention additionally provides that Lewis acid with Lewis bases mixture or Lewis base with Lewis acids mixture constituting the catalyst show synergistic effect resulting in high isobutylene conversion and production of polyisobutylene having high exo olefin content, while maintaining desired molecular weight range of 250-10000 Dalton.

The invention relates to a method of the oligomerization of C6 and above olefin monomer whereby, at a fixed monomer/Al halide mole ratio, polyalphaolefins having desirable kinematic viscosities are prepared by controlling the oligomerization temperature. The oligomerization is carried out in presence of an oligomerizing catalyst comprising of aluminum halide and a promoter, and oligomerizing temperatures of about 10° C. to about 120° C.

The present invention relates to a process for preparation of a catalyst for polymerization of olefins. The catalyst has a particle size of between 5 to 30 microns with activity ranging from 3-4 Kg (co)polymer per g of catalyst and excellent hydrogen response. The method for preparation of the catalyst comprises the steps of: a) contacting a liquid magnesium complex, an electron donor, and a titanium halide compound to form a solution; b) obtaining the solid uniform catalyst particles by precipitation; and c) washing the catalyst particles to obtain solid uniform catalyst., for producing (co)polymer of ethylene with other olefins have fines less than 10 wt.%.
