Abstract: A multiple mode display apparatus and methods of use. An apparatus includes a display surface with a first and a second display area. A housing pivotally attached with the display proximate a first edge of the housing is displaceable from a coplanar position with the surface of the display device to a position wherein an angle of at least 90 degrees between the surface of the display and the housing is formed along said first edge. In the first position, the first display area is visible and activated to receive user input or to display output. The second display area is covered by the housing and placed in a mode of reduced power consumption. In the second position, the second display area is visible and activated to display output.

The first housing rack can be curved and a portion of the first housing pinion can travel along a pinion guide that has approximately the same curved profile as the first housing rack.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide techniques for a co-planar connection between a PCB and another PCB, in accordance with some embodiments. In one embodiment, a PCB may include a plurality of electric traces disposed on the PCB, and a plurality of cutouts disposed along an edge of the PCB, to interface with mating cutouts of another PCB in a co-planar connection. The electric traces may extend into respective cutouts. Adjacent cutouts of the plurality of cutouts may be placed at a distance from each other to produce a retention force in response to the interface with the mating cutouts of the other PCB, to retain the PCB in the co-planar connection with the other PCB. The electric traces may be disposed such as to form electrical connections with respective traces disposed on the mating cutouts, to provide electrical contact between the PCBs. Abstract: In general, in one aspect, a laptop computer that maintains at least a subset of its operational capability (e.g., some display visibility, some user interface ability) in a closed configuration. The base includes a transparent surface to enable at least part of the display to be visible from the bottom when in the closed configuration. The transparent surface is touch sensitive to enable a touchscreen user interface with the display in the closed configuration and a touchpad user interface with the display in an open configuration. The transparent surface may display varying portions of the user interface device and possibly other images in the open configuration. The laptop computer may function as a tablet in the closed configuration.
