    摘要: This invention relates to water-soluble/dispersible reactive imido and polyimido compounds, wherein the polyimido compounds may be selected from the group consisting of polysuccinimide compounds, polyglutimide compounds, and copolymers of thereof. The polyimido compounds comprise a water-solubilizing/dispersing moiety that provides water-solubility and/or water-dispersibility to the polyimido compound and preferably is derived from a nucleophilic moiety selected from the group consisting of amines, alcohols, phenols, thiols, and carboxylates. The present invention also pertains to a proteinaceous substrate to which the imido or polyimido compound has been covalently bonded and to a method for treating a proteinaceous substrate with the imido or polyimido compound.

    摘要: This invention relates to a two-part system useful for treating proteinaceous substrates. The two-part system has a first part comprising a water-soluble/dispersible reactive polyimido compound and a second part comprising a nucleophilic catalytic agent. The polyimido compounds may be selected from the group consisting of polysuccinimide compounds, polyglutimide compounds, and copolymers of thereof. The polyimido compound may also comprise a functionalizing moiety that provides functionality to the polyimido compound and is preferably derived from a nucleophilic moiety selected from the group consisting of amines, alcohols, phenols, thiols, and carboxylates; and a water-solubilizing/dispersing moiety that provides water-solubility and/or water-dispersibility to the polyimido compound and is preferably derived from a nucleophilic moiety selected from the group consisting of amines, alcohols, phenols, thiols, and carboxylates. The nucleophilic catalytic agent serves to catalyze nuclephilic substitution of the polyimido compound by the proteinaceous substrate. The invention also pertains to a method for treating a proteinaceous substrate with the two-part system and to a composition comprising a mixture of the polyimido compound and the nucleophilic catalytic agent.

    摘要: Polymerizable, saccharide-derived monomers are prepared in processes which utilize water as the reaction solvent and which preferably do not utilize a cosolvent. The saccharide monomers are prepared from a saccharide unit, an amine selected from the group consisting of R.sup.3 NH.sub.2, where R.sup.3 is selected from the group consisting of a C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl group, H or NH.sub.2, and a single, polymerizable, .alpha.-methyl styryl moiety. The saccharide monomers are useful in preparing polymers for use in freeze-thaw stable aqueous-based compositions which do not require conventional freeze-thaw solvents and colorimetrically detectable polymers which are used in treating aqueous systems.

    摘要: A water-soluble polyvinylpyrridinium derivative containing a quaternary nitrogen and an anionic moiety selected from a sulfonate and/or a carboxylate functionality, said polyvinylpyrridinium derivative having the structure wherein a is a repeating unit of 1 to 100; b is a repeating unit of 0 to 99; c is a repeating unit of 0 to 99; d is a repeating unit of 0 1 to 99; R is selected from the group consisting of (CR1R2)m1, benzene, and substituted benzene; Y is selected from the group consisting of (CR3R4)m2, benzene, and substituted benzene; substituted benzene is independently a benzene substituted with a group selected from the group consisting of amino moeity moiety, nitro moiety, halogen moiety, and combinations thereof; Z is derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer; m1 and m2 are independently 0 to 10; M+ is independently a cation wherein M is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, ammonia, alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, zinc, copper, organic amines, amino acids, and amino saccharides; R1, R2, R3, and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxyl, alkyl having C1 to C6, aryl having C6 to C18, and alkaryl having C7 to C18; and X− is independently a halide, with the proviso that if Y is benzene or substituted benzene then a is 0 to 99 and b is 1 to 100. The polyvinylpyrridinium derivatives inhibit dye transfer in detergent compositions having a high level of anionic surfactants without adversely affecting stain or soil removal or soil redeposition.
