A stabilized enzyme-containing built liquid detergent is provided comprising(a) from about 5 to 20%, by weight, of one or more surface active detergent compounds selected from the group consisting of anionic, nonionic and amphoteric detergent compounds;from about 5 to 30%, by weight, of one or more builder salts selected from the group consisting of alkali metal tripolyphosphates, alkali metal carbonates, alkali metal nitrilotriacetates and polyacetal carboxylates;(c) from about 5 to 20%, by weight, of a swelling bentonite clay;(d) an effective amount of an enzyme or an enzyme mixture selected from the group consisting of alkaline protease enzymes and alpha-amylase enzymes;(e) an enzyme-stabilizing system containing, based on the weight of the detergent composition, (i) from about 1% to 10% glycerine; (ii) from about 1 to 8% of a boron compound selected from the group consisting of boric acid, boric oxide and alkali metal borates; and (iii) from about 0.5 to 8% of a carboxylic acid compound selected from the group consisting of mono, di and/or polycarboxylic acids having 1 to 8 carbon atoms and water-soluble salts thereof; and(f) the balance comprising water.

The present invention relates to an acid catalyzed thermal polycondensation process for producing amino acid polymers. More specifically, amino acid polymers are produced by thermally condensing a mixture of one or more amino acids and optionally one or more polyfunctional monomers, using an acid catalyst, while maintaining an intimate admixture. Processing techniques useful for maintaining an intimate admixture include adding to the mixture one or more processing aids, using mechanical means, and combinations thereof. The amino acid polymers produced by this process are useful as cleaning and detergent additives; fertilizer and pesticide additives; personal care product additives; dispersants for inorganic particulates, aqueous emulsions, and drilling muds; and water treatment and oil production operation additives as corrosion and scale inhibitors.

This invention provides novel water-soluble terpolymers. These terpolymers contain as polymerized units(a) from about 92 to about 30 percent by weight of one or more C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids;(b) from about 5 to about 50 percent by weight of one or more aminoacryloyl derivatives; and(c) from about 3 to about 25 percent by weight of one or more monoethylenically unsaturated monomers polymerizable with (a) and (b). These terpolymers are useful in detergent formulations, particularly automatic machine dishwashing detergent formulations.

Floor finishes can be stripped using a substantially nonchlorinated concentrate comprising a floor finish dissolver and an at least partially water-unactivated water thickener. The concentrate is diluted with water at an intended use location to activate the water thickener and noticeably increase within sixty minutes or less the viscosity of the resulting mixture, then applied to a hardened floor finish atop a floor and allowed to soften or dissolve the floor finish so that the finish may be removed from the floor.

This invention relates to the use of acrylic acid/ethyl acrylate copolymers as a liquid laundry detergent additive. Incorporating from about 0.5 to about 5 weight percent of an acrylic acid/ethyl acrylate copolymer into a liquid detergent formulation provides enhanced performance on the clay soil removal properties of the detergent. Particularly useful are copolymers containing as polymerized units from 70 to 98 percent by weight acrylic acid and 2 to 30 percent by weight ethyl acrylate.
