Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes: a display substrate; and a filter provided on a display surface side of the display substrate. The filter includes a first sub-pixel area provided with a first color filter, a second sub-pixel area provided with a second color filter, a third sub-pixel area provided with a third color filter, and a colorless fourth sub-pixel area. The display substrate includes a plurality of pixels provided so as to be capable of individually switching each sub-pixel between white, black, and red, and each of the pixels includes a first sub-pixel overlapping the first sub-pixel area, a second sub-pixel overlapping the second sub-pixel area, a third sub-pixel overlapping the third sub-pixel area, and a fourth sub-pixel overlapping the fourth sub-pixel area.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a display panel and a conversion circuit. The display panel is with a first pixel including subpixels of red, first green which is tinged red as compared to a reference green, and blue, and a second pixel including subpixels of red, second green which is tinged blue as compared to the reference green, and blue, where the first pixel and the second pixel are arranged alternately. The conversion circuit is configured to generate a four primary color image of red, first green, second green, and blue from a three primary color image of red, reference green, and blue and to perform rendering the first image and the second image from the four primary color image.

Abstract: A display device includes: a display unit including sub-pixels; and a signal processor configured to output output signals based on pixel data. A set of the sub-pixels includes first to fourth sub-pixels. The fourth sub-pixel is assigned a first color component as a white component in one of the two pieces of the pixel data arranged in one direction. The first to third sub-pixels are assigned second color components other than the first color component. When a signal level for lighting one or more of the first to third sub-pixels in the set of the sub-pixels is at a first level, and a signal level for one or more of the first to third sub-pixels is at a second level lower than the first level, the signal processor increases the signal levels corresponding to the second color components as a signal level corresponding to the first color component increases.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a display apparatus includes: an image display panel including a plurality of pixels and displaying an image; and a signal processor generating a second signal by multiplying signal values for a plurality of sub-pixels making up each of the plurality of pixels by a gain, the signal values being included in a first signal that is an input signal of the image. The the signal processor calculates a luminance of each of the plurality of pixels based on the signal values of the sub-pixels included in the respective pixels. The signal processor increases the gain by which the signal values of the sub-pixels of the pixel having a luminance greater than a first luminance threshold are multiplied, in accordance with the luminance of the corresponding pixel.
