    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a display module configured to emit display light which is linearly polarized light, a first structure including a first retardation film facing the display module, a holographic optical element facing the first retardation film, and a second retardation film facing the holographic optical element, a second structure including a reflective polarizer facing the second retardation film, and a transparent substrate facing the reflective polarizer, and a variable mechanism by which an interval between the first structure and the second structure is made variable.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a display panel, a first retardation film that faces the display panel, a holographic optical element that is bonded to the first retardation film, a second retardation film that is bonded to the holographic optical element, and a reflective polarizer that faces the second retardation film, reflects first linearly polarized light, and transmits second linearly polarized light that is orthogonal to the first linearly polarized light, wherein an air layer is interposed between the second retardation film and the reflective polarizer, a surface of the second retardation film facing the reflective polarizer is covered with an antireflective film.
