A method and system for predicting malfunctions in a power inverter having one or more legs connected between first and second voltage buses is provided. Each leg has respective first and second controllable switches coupled in series to one another. The method allows for applying predetermined respective voltages at the first and second buses. The method further allows for selectively actuating the first and second switches between respective conductive or non-conductive states. A monitoring step allows for monitoring predetermined electrical parameters generated in the inverter in response to the applied voltages as the first and second switches are respectively actuated, and an adjusting step allows for adjusting the respective values of the monitored electrical parameters for deviations from respective estimated nominal values due to predetermined external variables to generate adjusted electrical parameters that in turn may be used to determine the performance of the power inverter, including detection of incipient failures.

The robotic apparatus is provided in two models, a master that can record directive and compass or “environmental signal” readings to provide at least one command recorded on a machine-readable medium representing an instruction for traversing an area of interest, and a slave that lacks the recording capability. Both master and slave models can replay recorded commands, and compare the expected orientation from the command with an actual orientation sensed during autonomous operation. If an error exceeding a predetermined value is observed, a corrective action is taken. The robotic apparatus is able to utilize a tool to perform a task at one or more locations, such as cutting, shoveling and digging. In one embodiment, the robotic apparatus is a lawn mower.

A multi step approach to mitigating the effects of explosively formed projectiles (EFPs). The first step involves a splitting step whereby the EFP total mass is reduced into fragments having smaller masses. The fragments are then exposed to cascading armored disks in preparation for a temperature reduction or “cooling” step. Heat is reduced by conduction through a cooling medium. Temperature reduction restores some solid properties to each fragment. The EFP fragments are slowed by exposure to a series of cascading armored disks designed to disperse contact pressures from any remaining fragments.

In one specific example, the parasitic arthropod is a tick, which prefers to cling to the tops of foliage, while waiting for a passing host. The apparatus collects the tick. In one example the apparatus uses a suction force to collect the tick. In other examples, cloth designed to have a tick attach itself thereto is passed over a surface where ticks are believed to be present. In some cases the apparatus further comprises an irradiation apparatus. The irradiation apparatus exposes the ticks to a UVC radiation source, designed to disrupt both the life-cycle of the parasites, as well as to eliminate potential blood-borne pathogens that the ticks may be carrying. In one example, the blood-borne illness is Lyme disease.

At least one distinct fault cluster is generated from the plurality of distinct faults. Each generated fault cluster is related a respective quantization level of at least one operational parameter to provide at least one fault cluster that may be configurable in at least one of the following cluster configurations: a stand-alone fault cluster configuration and a cluster configuration enhanced with quantized operational parameter data. The invention relates to the mitigation of harmful water-borne bacteria such as cyanobacteria. Multiple apparatus are described. One apparatus can apply at least one of UVC irradiation, microbubbles and ultrasonic sound to mitigate the harmful water-borne bacteria. Methods of mitigation of the harmful bacteria are described that do not involve the application of chemicals.
