    摘要： A powered medical handpiece including an oscillatingly driveable chuck, and a blade fixable on the chuck and oscillating driveable thereby at a small amplitude for cutting. The chuck comprises a platform, a holddown screw having an enlarged head surrounded by a frictionally engaged cup washer and a shank structure threaded down into a central portion of the platform. A set screw limits the extent of unthreading of the screw from the platform. The blade is plate-like and has a forward cutting portion and a rearward mounting portion. The rearward mounting portion comprises a key hole having locking structure at the small diameter end thereof for resisting unthreading of the screw from a tightened position clamping the blade atop the platform. The blade further has drive openings flanking the narrow portion of the key hole for receiving upstanding drive pins and guide pins fixed on the platform. A cap preferably overlies the chuck and rear portion of a blade fixed thereon, for example to act as a vacuum hood for suctioning of chips created by a cutting operation.

    摘要： An implantable electrode array including a carrier on which plural electrodes are disposed. Also disposed on the carrier is an array antenna over which signals are wirelessly received. A tether is connected to the carrier. A tether antenna is attached to the tether. After the electrode array is implanted, during a trial period instructions and power are transmitted to the array antenna over the tether antenna. If the trial is successful, the tether is disconnected from the electrode array. If the trial is not successful and extraction of the array is necessary, extraction is accomplished by pulling on the tether. Electrode array removal may be facilitated by the pulling of the array into an extraction tube disposed over the tether.

    摘要： An instrument assembly for removing, as single segments, a mass of previously formed thermoplastic bone cement from a bone in a patient. A first component of the assembly includes an elongate probe having a heater tip assembly provided at one end thereof. A second component of the assembly includes an electrical system for supplying electricity to the aforesaid heater tip assembly when appropriately interconnected for effecting a heating of the heater tip. A releasable connectability of the first and second components facilitates a removal of the second component only to be replaced by a third component, namely, a hammer device so that repeated impact forces can be imparted to the elongate probe and the heater tip assembly of which is embedded in the bone cement until the impact force will cause the bone cement to crack and permit a segment thereof to be removed while being fixedly coupled to the elongate probe.

    摘要： A container assembly for mixing materials having a base defining a mixing chamber for mixing the materials and a cover mounted to the base covering the mixing chamber. A sealing portion depends from the cover and engages an inner wall of the base. The sealing portion is flexible and angled outwardly such that during the engagement of the sealing portion with the inner wall, the sealing portion flexes and conforms to the inner wall to seal the mixing chamber. In addition, a first locking device is disposed on the base and a second locking device is disposed on the cover. A lifting mechanism is disposed on one of the base and cover for automatically lifting the cover relative to the base as the cover is being removed from the base for preventing a discharge of material from the mixing chamber.
