摘要: A method for determining the co-location of cell sites includes the steps of acquiring a neighbor cell list (602), monitoring the neighbor cell sites for longitude and latitude information (604). Te longitude and latitude information is used of calculating the distance and bearings between the serving and neighbor cell sites (606 and 608). Neighbor cell sites having similar bearing and distances are grouped together (610), if grouped neighbors are in close proximity, the centroid of a polygon formed by the sector vertices is determined (614) and new latitude and longitude information for the centorid is determined (616). The neighbor cell list is then modified to indicate sectored versus omni-directional sites (620) and the information is then used by the communication device to make better mobility decisions. In another embodiment of the invention, the co-location information is used to minimize ping-pong effect which causes a communication device to be continually being handed back and forth between ell sites.

摘要: A method (400, 500) of identifying a route traveled. The method can include, while traveling away from an initial location (115), detecting a unique identifier for each of a plurality of wireless communication devices (125) along the route. The method also can include presenting an indicator (210) that indicates a relative distance from at least one of the wireless communication devices while traveling toward the initial location. Detecting the unique identifier for each of the plurality of wireless communication devices can include detecting a media access control (MAC) identifier or an Internet protocol (IP) address for at least one of the communication devices.

摘要: A method (600) for prioritizing communication services across multiple service initiators in a multi-modal communication device (110). The method can include establishing an inter-process communications link (140) between a first processor (125) and at least a second processor (130) within the communication device. Responsive to a request (202) for a first service provided by the first processor, a determination can be made whether the first service has a higher priority than a second service currently active on a second processor. A conflict message can be provided in response to the second service having a higher priority than the first service, or at least one process, such as initiation of the first service, can be implemented in response to the first service having a higher priority than the second service. Further service initiated messages (204, 206) can be communicated from the second process to an external device and to the first processor.

摘要: A method and system for operating an electronic device (102) that is operably coupled to an audio output device (104) is provided. The method includes receiving an encoded audio file at the electronic device. Further, the method includes selectively decoding (202) the encoded audio file, in correspondence with a spectral response of the audio output device, to provide decoded audio data. Furthermore, the method includes playing (204) the decoded audio data over the audio output device.

摘要: A method for limiting transmission power of a communication device (600). The method can include determining a desired maximum transmission power and determining a plurality of power contribution factors. Each of the power contribution factors can be associated with a respective service active on the communication device. The method also can include determining an expected transmission power based on, at least in part, a sum of the power contribution factors. Further, in response to the expected transmission power exceeding the desired maximum transmission power, the power contribution for at least one of the services active on the communication device can be selectively reduced or terminated. Selectively reducing the power contribution can include reducing a bit rate of a service data stream for the service and/or reducing a duty cycle of a service data stream for the service. Selectively terminating the power contribution can include terminating the service.
