摘要: Provided is a method for polymerizing a polymer precursor, comprising: contacting a polymer precursor with a lithium carborane catalyst and an initiator under polymerizing conditions. A reaction solvent may be used, but is not necessary. Also provided is a method of preparing lithium carborane polymers, comprising: contacting a lithium carborane polymer precursor having a terminal alkenyl or alkynyl group with an initiator and an optional reaction solvent under polymerizing conditions. Functionalized carborane anions are also provided.

摘要: An aqueous binder composition comprising: a) a water-insoluble polymer (P) in the form of dispersed polymer particles having a glass transition temperature in the range from −50° C. to 50° C., obtained by free-radical polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers M, the monomers M comprising: 80% to 99.9% by weight, based on the total amount of monomers M, of at least one neutral, monoethylenically unsaturated monomer M1 of low water-solubility; and 0.1% to 20% by weight, based on the total amount of monomers M, of at least one monoethylenically unsaturated monomer M2 which carries at least one carboxyl group and/or at least one carboxamido group (CONH2); and b) boric acid and/or at least one salt of boric acid is provided. Also provided are a process to prepare the binder composition and the use thereof.

摘要: The present invention relates to binder compositions which are based on polymer dispersions and comprise boric acid or salts of boric acid as crosslinking agents, to processes for preparing them, and to their uses.The aqueous binder composition comprises: a) a water-insoluble polymer (P) in the form of dispersed polymer particles having a glass transition temperature in the range from −50° C. to 50° C., obtainable by free-radical polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers M, the monomers M comprising: 80% to 99.9% by weight, based on the total amount of monomers M, of at least one neutral, monoethylenically unsaturated monomer M1 of low water-solubility; and 0.1% to 20% by weight, based on the total amount of monomers M, of at least one monoethylenically unsaturated monomer M2 which carries at least one carboxyl group and/or at least one carboxamido group (CONH2); and b) boric acid and/or at least one salt of boric acid.

For the various embodiments, a viscosity of the composition increases less than 100% as measured by Gardner Bubble Viscosity a temperature of 23° C. in at least 3 days. For the various embodiments, the composition of the present disclosure can also include an aprotic solvent, such as a ketone. Embodiments of the present disclosure further include a composition that includes the phosphorous-containing compound, the cyanate ester, and the aprotic solvent. For the various embodiments, the composition can also include the epoxy resin and the maleimide. For the various embodiments, the composition does not include an aliphatic alcohol.
