A heat-sensitive stencil master making apparatus for making a stencil master by imagewise perforating thermoplastic film of heat-sensitive stencil master material according to an image on an original includes a thermal head which has an array of a plurality of heater elements and is brought into thermal contact with the thermoplastic film. Heater elements selected from the array of the heater elements according to the image on the original are applied with an electric voltage so that perforations are formed in the parts of the thermoplastic film of the heat-sensitive stencil master material in contact with the selected heater elements. A continuous electric voltage is applied to each of the selected heater elements to heat the heater element to a predetermined temperature in a predetermined temperature range adequate to thermally perforate the thermoplastic film and then an intermittent electric voltage is applied to the heater element so that the temperature of the heater element is held in the predetermined temperature range for a predetermined time interval adequate to thermally perforate the thermoplastic film.

Image data for a margin around the image area of a book form original can be erased and image data for a book center portion are obtained without loss. In a photograph mode, a low threshold value is set in first binary conversion means 4, and image data having been input are binary converted by using this value. Based on the image data having been converted, a first coercion signal generating unit 6 judges a margin around the original image. A high threshold value is set to second binary conversion means 5 and image data having been input are binary converted by using this value. Based on the image data having been converted, a second coercion signal generating unit 7 judges a margin around the original and a portion including a book center portion. A character processing binary conversion unit 3 carries out binary conversion on input image data for the portion within the original, and outputs whitening data which erase the margin around the original. A photograph processing binary conversion unit 2 carries out tone image binary conversion only on the book center portion in the input image data and outputs the data thereof. An image processing selecting unit 10 makes the image data for the portion within the original image selectively output from the character processing binary conversion unit 3 and makes the image data for the book center portion selectively output from the photograph processing binary conversion unit 2.

An operator can select image processing for a half tone image area among a plurality of processing methods, and image processing appropriate for the image can be carried out thereby. An original image is read by an image sensor 1 and output through either simple binary conversion by binary conversion means 3 for character processing or half tone image processing by binary conversion means 2 for photograph processing. Judging means 6 judges whether image data are of a character image area or a half tone image area, and switches output between the binary conversion means 3 for character processing and the binary conversion means 2 for photograph processing. The binary conversion means 2 for photograph processing includes error diffusion processing means 10 and dither processing means 11. By setting of setting means 13 carried out by an operator, output from either the error diffusion processing means 10 or the dither processing means 11 is selected for a half tone image.

A specific gamut of colors extending a reproduction range of colors in a color space is set to make for any ink color belonging to the specific gamut a conversion from CMYK dot pattern data into numbers of ink drops to be discharged from an inkjet head, using as a lookup table an extended pattern table having a maximal drop number ‘7’. For ink colors belonging to a gamut of colors outside the specific gamut, a default pattern table having a maximal drop number ‘5’ is used as a lookup table for the conversion from CMYK dot pattern data into ink drop numbers.

An adjustment drop number setting section 335 sets a number of adjustment drops with which a change in print density in an image occurs remarkably when an ink drop amount of one ink drop is changed for each kind of a print medium (print sheet) input from an operation panel 340 or sets uniformly regardless of the kind of print medium. When a density difference that requires adjustment is recognized visually between images by two neighboring ink heads on a density measurement chart printed by a chart printing execution section 333c, the ink drop amount of one drop in the set number of adjustment drops is adjusted by adjusting a drive voltage of the ink head of a head unit 110 according to an input from the operation panel 340.

The present invention is a regulating device configured to regulate a temperature T2 of a first medium in accordance with a target temperature. The regulating device comprises a heat exchanger 16, a control valve 14, temperature sensors 2 and 4, temperature sensors 6 and 8, and a heat quantity control unit 30 and a temperature control unit 50 configured to calculate a target exchange heat quantity in the heat exchanger 16, calculate an exchange heat quantity in the heat exchanger 16, add a signal dependent upon a difference between the target exchange heat quantity and the exchange heat quantity to a signal dependent upon a difference between an output of the temperature sensor 4 and the target temperature, and control the control valve 14 so that a difference between the output of the temperature sensor 4 and the target temperature is reduced.

A medium storing a program for display control. When the program is executed by a computer realized in a mobile terminal, the mobile terminal operates as follows. An area-information storing unit stores information on a first display area of an external display device and a second display area of a built-in display. A screen-data production unit acquires content to be displayed, and produces screen data corresponding to the first display area. An entire-image display unit divides the screen data into partial areas each corresponding to the second display area, adds to the entire screen data area-display data indicating the extent of each partial area and a corresponding identifier, and displays the screen data on the external display device. On receipt of an identifier, a partial-image display unit extracts a portion of the screen data for a partial area corresponding to the identifier, and displays the portion on the built-in display.

An ink circulation type inkjet printer includes a maintenance controller configured to: (1) allow a maintenance mechanism to execute maintenance processing for a plurality of inkjet heads before a present printing job under three conditions that: (c1) an elapsed time from a last printing job to a present printing job is less than a first reference time; (c2) the present printing job requests for ejecting ink from unused nozzles of multiple nozzles of the plurality of inkjet heads in the last printing job; (c3) the elapsed time is more than a second reference time; (2) allow the ink circulation type inkjet printer to perform the present printing job without the maintenance processing for the plurality of inkjet heads when the elapsed time is less than the predetermined second reference time.

A printing apparatus is capable of printing images by ejecting ink droplets from nozzles. The printing apparatus includes: a drive signal generation unit which generates ejectable drive pulses for ejecting ink droplets based on image data indicating the number of ink droplets for each pixel, and outputs the ejectable drive pulses to the nozzles; and a temperature measuring unit which measures the temperature of the ink. The drive signal generation unit also outputs non-ejectable drive pulses to the nozzle when the ink temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature. The non-ejectable drive pulses are generated and output in order that even when the nozzle is driven by the non-ejectable drive pulses, no ink droplet is ejected. It is therefore possible to provide, without substantially increasing the production cost, the printing apparatus which can elevate the ink temperature irrespective of the print coverage when the ink temperature is low.

An inkjet printer includes an inkjet head configured to perform printing on a printing sheet by use of ink. The inkjet printer includes: a heater configured to heat the ink; a thermometer configured to measure the temperature of the ink; and a controller configured to control the amount of electric power to be supplied to the heater and to control the inkjet head. In a case where the measured value of the ink temperature measured by the thermometer is in a range of a first reference temperature inclusive to a second reference temperature exclusive, the controller calculates a coverage rate of a page to be printed, and accordingly changes the amount of electric power to be supplied to the heater depending on the coverage rate thus calculated.
