摘要: A sheet-metal layer includes anti-diffusion structures made of a high-temperature-corrosion-resistant steel having a longitudinal direction, upper and lower surfaces, a thickness of 0.015 to 0.1 mm and discontinuous microstructures extending approximately in the longitudinal direction. The microstructures have a structure height (0.02 to 0.1 mm), a structure length (2 to 10 mm), a structure width (0.2 to 1 mm), a longitudinal spacing (greater than 2 mm), formed by interruptions, from the nearest microstructure aligned approximately in the longitudinal direction and a lateral distance (1 to 10 mm) from the nearest laterally adjacent microstructure. Some of the microstructures project out of the sheet-metal layer toward the upper surface and some toward the lower surface. The microstructures cause each straight theoretical line extending across the sheet-metal layer perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction to intersect at least two microstructures projecting toward the upper surface and two microstructures projecting toward the lower surface.

摘要: A honeycomb body has sheet-metal layers and sheet-metal foils to be joined with brazing powder. Each of the foils has at least one sliding structure enabling the adjacent layers to slide over one another. A honeycomb body, particularly a catalyst carrier body for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, includes at least partially structured sheet-metal layers wound and/or stacked to form passages for fluid flow. The sheet-metal layers are at least partially joined to one another by the brazing powder. The honeycomb body also has at least one sheet-metal foil with at least one sliding structure. A process for producing the honeycomb body guarantees sharply delineated brazed joints, even for brazing powder, which results in a greatly increased lifespan, particularly with regard to thermal and dynamic loads placed on the honeycomb body when used as a catalyst carrier body in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine.

摘要: A honeycomb body, in particular a catalyst carrier body, includes metallic foil of high-temperature corrosion-resistant steel with connecting points and an oxide layer with a thickness of 60 to 80 or 70 to 75 nm on each surface. The foil is composed of steel with chromium and aluminum components, particularly 1 to 5% aluminum. The oxide layer is substantially aluminum oxide or γ-aluminum oxide with a uniform thickness having a tolerance of less than 10% or less than 5% on all surfaces. The oxide layer may be on a rolled foil having a mean surface roughness of greater than 0.3 or 0.5 μm or approximately 0.6 μm in rolling direction and/or transversely thereto. The honeycomb body is durable under high loads and has defined connecting points. A foil having an oxide coat and a method for producing an oxide coat on a metallic foil are also provided.

摘要: A foil for producing a metal honeycomb or catalyst carrier body, has an average surface roughness of more than 0.3 μm (micrometers) on both surfaces in at least one measurement direction. Preferably, the foil is rolled and has an average surface roughness of more than 0.3 or 0.5 μm, especially approximately 0.6 μm, in the rolling direction and/or transverse thereto. The foil can have an oxide coating with a thickness between 60 and 80 or between 70 and 75 nm (nanometers) on both surfaces. Despite the roughness, an even thickness of the oxide coating with a tolerance of less than 10% or 5% is advantageous on both surfaces. The foil allows production of durable honeycomb bodies, especially for exhaust systems of internal combustion engines, requiring an exactly defined distribution and quality of compounds in the interior thereof. A honeycomb body and method of production using a foil, are also provided.

摘要: A process for producing a honeycomb body includes a) producing a tubular casing from sheet metal; b) introducing a hole, delimited by a rim, into the sheet metal; c) fitting a flange piece for a measurement sensor to the hole rim; d) introducing a honeycomb structure into the tubular casing; and e) joining the tubular casing to the honeycomb structure and the flange piece by brazing or welding in a single, common, heat treatment process. Steps a), b) and c) are carried out in any desired order. A honeycomb body includes a honeycomb structure. A tubular casing surrounds the honeycomb structure, has a hole delimited by a rim, and has a necked region surrounding the hole. A flange piece for a measurement sensor is brazed to the hole rim. The process allows a flange piece to be connected to the tubular casing in an advantageous manner as part of an on-going heat treatment process, resulting in a simple and fast production and consequently a reduction of costs.

摘要: A method positions a sensor in a honeycomb body which is provided with hollow spaces that can be penetrated at least in part by an exhaust gas. The sensor is placed in an area of the honeycomb body in which at least one minimum hydrogen concentration occurs when the honeycomb body is operated in the emission system of a motor vehicle. The sensor positioning method allows the sensor to be placed in the honeycomb body in such a way that systematic errors that occur are kept as small as possible as a result of an inherent transverse sensitivity of the sensor to hydrogen. This applies especially to lambda probes. A honeycomb body contains the sensor which is placed so as to supply particularly reliable test data whose systematic error is as small as possible.
