    摘要: A honeycomb body, in particular a catalyst carrier body, includes metallic foil of high-temperature corrosion-resistant steel with connecting points and an oxide layer with a thickness of 60 to 80 or 70 to 75 nm on each surface. The foil is composed of steel with chromium and aluminum components, particularly 1 to 5% aluminum. The oxide layer is substantially aluminum oxide or γ-aluminum oxide with a uniform thickness having a tolerance of less than 10% or less than 5% on all surfaces. The oxide layer may be on a rolled foil having a mean surface roughness of greater than 0.3 or 0.5 μm or approximately 0.6 μm in rolling direction and/or transversely thereto. The honeycomb body is durable under high loads and has defined connecting points. A foil having an oxide coat and a method for producing an oxide coat on a metallic foil are also provided.

The device comprises an outer casing which may be divided into a lower portion and an upper portion, the lower portion of which is removably attachable to the exhaust system of a diesel engine; a carcass for holding a bobbin wherein the carcass is attached to the lower portion of the outer casing at the point where the exhaust enters the outer casing and the carcass has a beveled opening in a diagonal line in its proximal part and a bobbin positioned in its distal part; one or more fibrous blanket cylinders; and a guide for arranging and securing the one or more fibrous blanket cylinders within the outer casing. The fibrous blanket cylinders may be wrapped in a wire mesh. In an alternative embodiment, a second fibrous blanket formed into a cone with the larger diameter of the cone positioned proximally may be removably inserted in the carcass.

    摘要: A device for conducting away exhaust gases from internal combustion engines comprises at least one sleeve-shaped silencer which encloses an exhaust pipe and forms an enclosed space around said exhaust pipe. The silencer is made up of at least two sleeve-shaped parts, or of a sleeve-shaped part and base part, which are joined together. The portion of the exhaust pipe in the space inside the silencer features perforations and/or sound absorbing elements. The inside of the silencer may be fitted with sound absorbers. The sleeve-shaped parts of the silencer and, if desired, the exhaust pipe and/or the sound absorbers are made of aluminum and/or an aluminum alloy.The sleeve-shaped parts of the silencer are manufactured by impact extrusion, deep drawing or a similar method and are joined together preferably radial to their longitudinal axis. The ends these parts taper down to tube-shaped extensions which fit over the exhaust pipe.To join the sleeve-shaped parts and the tube-shaped extensions to the exhaust pipe a region is provided on which an interlocking profile is created by electromagnetic forces.

    摘要: A method of forming an exhaust gas conduit tube wherein a plurality of captured take-up slots in the tubular wall define a deformable region near a free end of the tube, which region will cooperate with clamping means encircling the region to clamp the tube to a second tube inserted telescopically therein. The captured nature of the slots enhances the structural integrity of the tube end. The method includes forming the apertures along an edge of flat steel stock, rolling the steel stock into a tube wherein the apertures are adjacent a free end and welding the longitudinal seam. The free end portion is further flared for strength and to facilitate entry of a second tube.
