摘要: A communication system includes an information processing device and a management device including a challenge input device, an encryption device, and a combination data output device. The challenge input device inputs challenge data output by the information processing device. The encryption device creates combination data including the challenge data and the predetermined data, and encrypts the combination data in units of blocks. The encryption device creates the combination data such that at least one block of the combination data includes both at least a part of the challenge data and at least a part of the predetermined data. The combination data output device outputs the combination data encrypted by the encryption device to the information processing device. The information processing device is provided with a challenge output device, a challenge storage, a combination data input device, a decryption device, and a data utilizing device.

The device management system includes a plurality of devices that are coupled to a network; and a management apparatus that is coupled to the network. The devices include a first device and a second device. The first device stores icon image data indicating the device and including specified information embedded therein as digital watermark information. The second device stores icon image data indicating the device but not including specified information. The management apparatus includes a response information receiving unit; a response detecting unit that detects whether the specified information is embedded as the digital watermark information in the icon image data; and a device specifying unit that specifies a device as a first device or a second device.

摘要: A communication apparatus obtains first identification information of a particular device, obtains a particular IP address assigned to the particular device, attempts a unicast communication with the particular device by using the particular IP address, determines whether the unicast communication fails; generates a new IP address when the unicast communication fails, and broadcasts a setting packet to a network causes the receiving device to assign the new IP address to the receiving device.

Another telephone apparatus that can be connected to the IP network can perform a voice data communication with a public line telephone apparatus connected to the public switched telephone network, via the above-described telephone apparatus.

摘要: A wireless network system having an access point, and wireless devices capable of wireless communication with the access point, each wireless device being capable of wireless communication with the other wireless device in an ad hoc mode without via the access point, wherein the access point includes a registrar setup portion to set up any of the wireless devices as a registrar which permits wireless communication between each wireless device and the access point, and each wireless device includes: a memory portion for storing identifiers of the wireless devices; a data-supply requesting portion operable in the ad hoc mode to transmit to the other wireless device a data-supply request packet requesting the other wireless device to transmit the identifier of the other wireless device stored in its memory portion; a request replying portion operated in response to the data-supply request packet to transmit to the other wireless device a data-supply-request reply packet including an own identifier; a reply-data receiving portion operable to receive the data-supply-request reply packet; an identifier retrieving portion operable to retrieve the identifier from the received data-supply-request reply packet, and store the retrieved identifier in its memory portion; and a registrar registering portion operable after the wireless device is set up as the registrar by the registrar setup portion (88) of the access point, to register the other wireless device the identifier of which is stored in the memory portion, as the wireless device which is permitted to effect wireless communication with the access point.

The management device is provided with an old data input device that inputs the old data, a first new data input device that inputs the new data, an encryption device that encrypts the new data by utilizing the old data as a key, and a new data output device that outputs the new data encrypted by the encryption device to the information processing device. The information processing device is provided with an old data storage that stores the old data, a second new data input device that inputs the encrypted new data output by the management device, a decryption device that decrypts the encrypted new data by utilizing the old data as a key, and an updating device that updates the old data stored in the old data storage to the new data decrypted by the decryption device.

摘要: An information-processing apparatus which is capable of transmitting device identifiers of devices connected with LANs to terminals without using a broadcast command is provided. A server is connected with a World Area Network. A managing terminal and printers are connected with a LAN. The server receives a device identifier of the printer connected with any one of the LANs. The server receives an inquiry for a device identifier from a terminal connected with any one of the LANs. The server stores appended information, which is appended to the device identifier while the device identifier is transferred to the server, in a manner that the appended information is associated with the device identifier. The server transmits to the terminal the device identifier whose appended information as stored in a storage coincides with the appended information that is appended to the inquiry while the inquiry is transferred to the server. The managing terminal can obtain the device identifier of the printer connected with the same LAN as the managing terminal itself by transmitting the inquiry to the server.

The administration device may comprise an information acquisition unit configured to execute an information acquisition process for sequentially acquiring information from the plurality of devices by sequentially making a request for the information to the plurality of devices. The information acquisition unit may make a request for status information to the first device, (a) if the status information of the first device does not indicate, for example, a sleeping status or a process executing status, make a request for target information other than the status information to the first device, and make a request for the status information to the second device after having made the request for the target information to the first device, (b) if the status information of the first device indicates, for example, the sleeping status or the process executing status, make the request for the status information to the second device without making the request for the target information to the first device.
