An overflow valve is disposed between the raw side and the clean side of the filter element. The overflow valve is moved into an open position should a pressure of the liquid on the raw side of the filter element surpass a limit value. The overflow valve has an adjustable valve body loaded by a valve spring and made from plastic material.
