    摘要: A method and system for automated testing of a system such as a billing module in a telecommunication system is disclosed. In a first embodiment, test APIs, scenarios and configuration information are embedded into the module itself in a way such that, when testing is desired, tests may be conducted without any need for a dedicated test environment. Tests can be run from within the module itself, thereby eliminating the risk, expense and time required to use external testing systems and data to test the module. In another embodiment, operational data such as live operational orders are wrapped in test headers and are used as input data for testing purposes within the billing module. In this embodiment, test APIs may be embedded into all modules of an operational support system so that complete system end-to-end testing is possible without the use of dedicated external test equipment and processes.

    摘要: A voice-activated command interface module for interacting with a plurality of home-based electronic devices so as to allow for a remotely-located home owner to communicate with, command and control various ones of the electronic devices. The module includes a plurality of communication ports, each communication port associated with a different type of communication interface for providing communications to and from the plurality of electronic devices. The module also includes a voice network communication port for receiving the voice commands from the home owner and a data network communication port for transmitting monitoring and control information between the plurality of electronic devices and the home owner. In operation, the command interface module is responsive to voice commands received from a remote user via an incoming telephone line (either data or voice). A voice recognition unit within the command interface module is utilized to translate the received voice signal into an “action/control” signal and then perform the desired activity.

    摘要: A method and apparatus is disclosed for using an open application interface to enable communications between the components and sub-components of a complex system, such as an OSS system. In a first embodiment, one or more Intelligent Flow Engines (IFEs) are used to register all applications and/or components in the system. Once the applications have been registered, then a component requiring service from another application/component sends a request for service to an IFE. The IFE then determines which provider application can best provide the requested service and binds the requesting application with that provider application. In accordance with another embodiment, when a provider component is taken offline, e.g., for maintenance or to replace that component with a new or upgraded component, the applications of that component are un-registered and any applications that were bound to that component are seamlessly rerouted and are bound with another application if one is available.
