摘要: In order to provide a single common cost-efficient architecture for real time communication services for audio, video, and data over internet protocol, a voice over internet protocol (VoIP) system and architecture is provided by placing border elements (BEs) at the interface boundaries between the access network the user devices use and the VoIP infrastructure. The BEs use SIP protocol as the access call control protocol over any access networking technologies, for example, IP, Ethernet, ATM, and FR, and provides all services transparently to the end users that use SIP-enabled devices. To enable a scalable system, the SIP BEs are decomposed into separate communicating entities that make the SIP BE scalable and provide new capabilities not previously available by a self-contained SIP BE. Further, multiple levels of decomposition of a SIP BE can be provided by the present invention supporting a flexible and scalable SIP BE design that further improves system efficiencies and cost advantages as compared to use of single integrated border or edge elements. Further, a scalable SIP BE, made up of a plurality of physical entities for optimization of a large scale design, acts as a single integrated functional entity to logically execute a set of functions at the border of a VoIP infrastructure.

摘要: A method and system for automated testing of a system such as a billing module in a telecommunication system is disclosed. In a first embodiment, test APIs, scenarios and configuration information are embedded into the module itself in a way such that, when testing is desired, tests may be conducted without any need for a dedicated test environment. Tests can be run from within the module itself, thereby eliminating the risk, expense and time required to use external testing systems and data to test the module. In another embodiment, operational data such as live operational orders are wrapped in test headers and are used as input data for testing purposes within the billing module. In this embodiment, test APIs may be embedded into all modules of an operational support system so that complete system end-to-end testing is possible without the use of dedicated external test equipment and processes.

摘要: A method and system for managing requests in a hold queue and the responses thereto are described. By providing a management system for handling requests in a call queue, a requesting party may be free to perform other tasks while waiting for a response. In addition, the management system may modify request priority independently of a party receiving the request. The method and system may further facilitate the entry of request related information by implementing an information database. The flexibility of a receiving party in responding to a request may also be enhanced through a greater selection of response options. The management system and method may further provide automatic backup and secondary options if a receiving party's first option is unfeasible.

摘要: A method for synchronously adapting radio frequency channel selection based on an application which can range from low bandwidth applications such as instant messaging to high bandwidth applications such as streaming video selected by an end user cellular telecommunications device involves providing end user devices with synchronous adaptive radio selection (SARS) modules. The SARS modules perform as sensory agents for identifying usage by the end user device of applications and thus permit monitoring for interference, congestion and the like in the cellular telecommunications network. The sensory agents preferably determine their location and altitude for comparison with reference topographic relief maps of a geographic area surrounding a base station. Control reference test stations collect information from the sensory agents and further receive updates on security alerts and network administration policies from a base station, for example, equipped with a base station scheduler. The reference test stations periodically output channel control information including a reference clock frequency, its identity, interference levels, policies and security updates for the base stations and end user devices to optimize radio frequency selection based on utilized applications. Consequently, the control reference stations oversee channel characteristics in a centralized manner and provide guidelines to base stations for optimized traffic flows and altimetry enhanced application performance.
