摘要: An object of the invention is to provide a method of assembling a disc which can reduce an unbalance of a rotating portion. The method of assembling a disc-like recording medium has a first step of mounting a disc-like recording medium to a disc apparatus in a state capable of moving the disc-like recording medium with respect to a hub of a spindle motor in a direction of a disc radius, a second step of pressing an outer diameter of the disc in a direction of a center axis of the hub by a first flat member so as to bring an inner diameter of the disc into contact with an outer diameter of a rotary axis of the hub, a third step of pressing back the outer diameter of the disc contact with the first flat member and the outer diameter of the disc at an opposite position to the center of the disc in an inverse direction to a pressing direction of the first flat member to a half of an amount of tolerance between the inner diameter of the disc and the outer diameter of the hub, by a second flat member placed substantially in parallel to the first flat member and in an opposite side to the center axis of the hub, and a fourth step of fixing the disc to the spindle motor hub by a clamp member.

摘要: A rotary disk type storage device has a casing comprised of a box-shaped base casing, whose one side is opened, and a cover casing closing the open side of the base casing, in which accommodated are a magnetic disk, a spindle for rotating the magnetic disk, and an actuator for moving a magnetic head slider to a desired position on the magnetic disk. A film member having an adhesive layer is bonded to an outside of an edge portion of the casing to reduce vibrations of a side wall of the cover casing and therefore vibration-induced noise.

摘要: An acceleration detecting apparatus for a magnetic disk apparatus capable of detecting with high reliability the disturbances such as rotational and translational shocks and vibrations applied externally to the magnetic disk apparatus to thereby prevent destruction or the like damages of data recorded on a disk of the magnetic disk apparatus upon occurrence of off-track event under the influence of the disturbance. The apparatus includes a pair of acceleration detectors for detecting acceleration in two directions extending discretely in parallel to each other. The acceleration detectors are disposed at positions closer to the magnetic disk relative to a pivot shaft for a head supporting arm as viewed in a longitudinal direction of an oblong box-like casing of the magnetic disk apparatus in a plane which forms an angle not greater than 10 degrees relative to the plane of the magnetic disk. By employing the angular acceleration detectors in combination with an angular velocity detector, the rotational disturbances due to rotational shock/vibration can be detected with much enhanced reliability, and destruction of the data recorded on the magnetic disk due to the off-track read/write operation can positively be prevented.

摘要: A ramp load type magnetic disk unit which prevents worn particles of a slide tab and a runway produced as a result of repetitive load/unload operations from falling onto the magnetic disk and which has low cost, high reliability and high recording density. A groove portion as a worn particle removing mechanism is provided at a home position on the runway where the magnetic head support assembly stands by after the unload operation is finished. At the groove portion, the magnetic head support assembly is vibrated at low frequencies to scrape off the particles. A worn particle collecting portion is provided near the groove portion so that an air flow generated by the rotation of the magnetic disk and directed toward the collecting portion blows the worn particles caught in the grooves into the particle collecting portion.

摘要: In magnetic disk structure having a high density, positioning errors (generally referred to as "flutter error") occur due to fluctuation (i.e., flutter) of a magnetic disk. As a result reading precision deteriorates. This is a significant problem in realizing a large capacity providing magnetic disk apparatus. This can be resolved by magnetic apparatus such that a suspension which holds a slider having a magnetic head at one end and which is attached to a supporting arm at the other end is inclined so that an interval between the suspension and the magnetic disk is small on the inner rim side and is large on the outer rim side with this arrangement the occurrence of the positioning error due to the fluctuation of a deformation of the magnetic disk is reduced, thereby enabling a high density recording of the magnetic disk.

摘要: A low cost, reliable and high density magnetic disk device of a ramp loading type, in which a ramp or a dimple or dimples are free from wear even if loading and unloading are repeated. A plurality of dimples are arranged or running tracks are inclined so that the running tracks (ramp), on which a portion (a dimple or dimples) of a magnetic head supporting mechanism runs, includes different tracks at the time of loading and unloading. Alternatively, the magnetic head supporting mechanism has different portions engaging with the ramp at the time of loading and unloading.

摘要: Under existence of an impact and a vibration, a throughput and a reliability of a recording and reproducing operation in a magnetic disc apparatus are reduced. Accordingly, a mechanism for fixing a coarse moving actuator at an optional position is provided, at a time of following to a track, a motion of the coarse moving actuator is restricted and a positioning is performed by a fine moving actuator. Even when a vibration and an impact is applied from an external portion during the track following operation, it is possible to prevent the head position from being shifted and it is possible to perform a recording and reproducing operation. Further, it is possible to prevent adjacent data from being erroneously broken.
