摘要: A drug delivery catheter which may be inserted into a vessel, such as a blood vessel is disclosed. The drug delivery catheter comprises any elongated tubular member which has a proximal end and a distal end. A drug lumen which provides a communication path for fluid is provided in the elongated tubular member for delivering a fluid, such as the drug to be administered. An inflatable balloon assembly is provided at the distal end of the elongated tubular member. The balloon assembly includes apertures which communicate with the drug lumen. The balloon assembly comprises a tubular balloon which is helically wound through the elongated tubular member and a sheath. The sheath is attached to the helically wound tubular balloon such that when the balloon member is uninflated, the first fluid in the vessel flows around the balloon assembly and such that when the balloon member is inflated, sections of the helically wound balloon contact the vessel wall to form a containment pocket between the vessel wall, the contacting sections of the balloon and the sheath. The apertures are provided in the containment pocket. An inflatable lumen is defined through the interior of the helically wound balloon and the sheath to allow perfusion of the first fluid.

摘要: An apparatus is provided for closing a perforation in a wall of a patient's blood vessel or other organs, and a method of introducing the apparatus and causing the closure are described. The apparatus includes an elongated support member having a distal end supporting one or more tissue engaging hooks configured to engage fibrous vessel tissue when moved in a first direction and to disengage the tissue when moved in a second direction, and a proximal end for applying rotational torque to the support member to cause the hooks to engage collagen fibrous tissue in the adventitia of the blood vessel or fibrous tissue in other body organs. The hooks engaging the collagen fiber causes the blood vessel tissue surrounding the perforation to be drawn into close proximity such that the perforation can be closed. The apparatus can be removed by applying reverse rotation of the support member, whereby the hooks are disengaged. The apparatus is deployed in an outer sheath with the hooks encased until a selected engaging location has been achieved. When positioned in the aperture to be closed, the hooks are exposed to allow interaction with the adventitia. Puncture closure can be accomplished by various techniques, including stasis, cauterizing, or by clamping. Various embodiments of the apparatus are described.

摘要: A percutaneous system for bypassing a restriction in an artery of a mammal having an aorta includes providing a graft having a body portion with a first end, a second end and a lumen therebetween. First and second expandable stents are provided at the first and second ends of the graft, respectively. Apertures are formed in the artery, distal of the restriction, and in the aorta and the graft is inserted between the apertures. At least a portion of the first stent is inserted through the aperture in the artery and the stent is deployed to connect the first end of the graft within the artery. The second stent is positioned such that a first expandable portion is outside the aorta and a second expandable portion is within the aorta. The first and second expandable portions of the second stent are expanded to have outer diameters at least as large as the aperture in the aorta to anchor the first end of the graft in the aorta such that the lumen in the graft communicates with the aorta and the artery.

摘要: Devices and methods for increasing blood perfusion within the myocardium of the heart by wounding the myocardium and applying growth factors to promote vascularization. One method includes driving spikes into the myocardium from within the heart, with the spikes being formed of biodegradable material, containing releasable growth factors, and having lumens and side holes. An alternative method utilizes non-biodegradable spikes with lumens and side holes. Another method promotes vascularization by injecting angiogenic material into holes bored into the myocardium, leaving a patent hole. Another method includes injecting angiogenic material into the myocardium without boring, leaving no patent hole. The angiogenic material can be carried in a biodegradable adhesive. Revascularization of the myocardium is promoted in one method by externally wounding the heart and applying a patch including growth factors.
