Abstract: An electroluminescent display device contains an electroluminescent phosphor sandwiched between a pair of electrodes. An optically transmissive layer of an electrically conductive material is coated on a side of the device that is presented to a human observer to aid in the prevention of electric shock. The electrically conductive material layer is electrically connected to ground, such as the ground of an AC power supply for the device.

Abstract: A portable electronic device implements power management to accommodate operation of a projector from the device's power source. The portable device includes a power source, a memory, a user interface, and a processor. The memory stores an image file and associated content metadata. The user interface receives a request to use the projector to perform a projection task, wherein the task includes projecting images from the image file onto a display surface. The processor is operable to: (i) retrieve the content metadata from the memory responsive to the request; (ii) project, based at least on the content metadata, whether the power source has sufficient power remaining for the projector to complete the task; and (iii) if there is not sufficient power remaining, modify parameters associated with the task and/or functionality of the portable device in an attempt to enable the power source to supply sufficient power to the projector.

Abstract: A method (300) and apparatus (200) that determines a physiological parameter using a fingerprint sensor on a portable electronic device is disclosed. The method can include capturing (320) a plurality of images corresponding to an area beneath a surface of skin using a fingerprint sensor configured to capture a live scan of a fingerprint pattern from a finger on a touch surface on a portable electronic device. The method can include comparing (330) image characteristics corresponding to at least a first image of the plurality of images with image characteristics corresponding to at least a second image of the plurality of images. The method can include determining (340) a physiological parameter based on comparing the image characteristics.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for behavior modification is provided herein. During operation an apparatus (100) learns what context causes desired and undesired physiological parameters and then coaches a user to be aware of context causing undesired behavior and avoid future occurrences. The apparatus may then recommend behavior modification prior to the parameter reaching elevated status. Because an individual will be warned when situations exist that will cause an undesired physiological parameters, the apparatus will suggest to the user a method to alleviate the situation, for example, substituting an activity or context that creates desired physiological patterns. The user will then be able to take appropriate steps to alleviate the situation.

Abstract: A printing platform receives (102) (preferably in-line with a semiconductor device printing process (101)) a substrate having at least one semiconductor device printed thereon and further having a test structure printed thereon, which test structure comprises at least one printed semiconductor layer. These teachings then provide for the automatic testing (103) of the test structure with respect to at least one static (i.e., relatively unchanging) electrical characteristic metric. The static electrical characteristic metric (or metrics) of choice will likely vary with the application setting but can include, for example, a measure of electrical resistance, a measure of electrical reactance, and/or a measure of electrical continuity. Optionally (though preferably) the semiconductor device printing process itself is then adjusted (105) as a function, at least in part, of this metric.

Abstract: A low temperature, high energy soldering composition for joining metals together contains a fluxing agent and high energy metal particles that possess sufficiently high internal energy, suspended in the fluxing agent, such that the melting point of the high energy metal particles is depressed by at least three degrees Celsius below the normal bulk melting temperature of metal. A solder joint is effected by placing the high energy metal particles in contact with one or more of the metal surfaces and heating the high energy metal particles in the presence of a fluxing agent to melt the high energy metal particles and fuse them to the metal surface.
