    摘要: A photography system includes a digital camera and a remote control. The remote control emits a light that the photographer can use to designate a subject to be photographed by pointing the remote control at the subject, casting a light spot on the subject. In a preferred embodiment, the light is generated by a laser pointer included in the remote control. The camera selects a region to photograph from its field of view, based on the location or motion of the light spot. The camera may optionally select a region that is centered on the light spot. The photographer may optionally specify the size of the region to be selected. The camera may optionally adjust the size of the selected region to assist in photographic composition. The camera may optionally be capable of making video recordings.

    摘要: A passive transparent media adapter magnetically couples to a scan system. The transparent media adapter captures light from an existing scan module and transfers the light to backlight transparent media so that it can be imaged by the scanner module. The transparent media adapter has no active electronics or illumination so does not require control or power to operate. The magnetic coupling allows a significant amount of existing system illumination to be focused into a narrow backlight region that moves in sync with the scan module.

    摘要: In an image scanner, multiple exposures are used for each scan line, and only part of the pixels for each scan line are used for each exposure. For example, with two exposures, half the pixels may be used for the first exposure, and half for the second exposure. For each exposure, half of the charges are shifted out rapidly and discarded, without waiting for the A/D conversion time. As a result, for each exposure, the time required to empty the charge shift register is greatly reduced, reducing the thermal noise for all pixels.
