Abstract: An air conditioner includes a compressor and a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger includes a first header pipe to have a refrigerant compressed by the compressor to flow therein, a heat exchange unit including a plurality of first refrigeration tubes and a plurality of second refrigeration tubes to thermally exchange the refrigerant with air, a plurality of first header branch pipes coupling the first header pipe with corresponding first refrigeration tubes in the heat exchange unit, a bypass pipe to have the refrigerant, thermally exchanged in the heat exchange unit, passing therethrough in the air cooling operation, and a second header pipe to have the refrigerant passing through the bypass pipe to flow therein. A plurality of second header branch pipes couples the second header pipe with corresponding second refrigeration tubes in the heat exchange unit, where at least two first refrigeration tubes have at least one second refrigeration tube therebetween.

Abstract: A multi-air conditioner for heating/cooling operations, including at least one indoor unit for heating/cooling operations including an indoor heat exchanger; and an outdoor unit for heating/cooling operations including a compressor, an outdoor heat exchanger, and a switching unit configured to be disposed in a discharge side of the compressor to switch a flow of refrigerant. The outdoor unit includes a receiver that selectively stores refrigerant or oil according to a cooling or heating operation mode and provides the stored refrigerant or oil to the compressor. Accordingly, in the accumulator of the multi-air conditioner using the receiver, the receiver which is not used in the heating mode may be converted and used for oil storage, thereby preventing oil burnout without adding structure.

Abstract: An electric motor and a compressor having an electric motor are disclosed herein. The electric motor may include a stator having a stator core and a stator coil, and a rotor provided with a rotational shaft and rotatably disposed with respect to the stator. The stator coil may include a main winding and an auxiliary winding connected to each other with a phase difference. The outdoor heat exchanger includes a header defining a flow space for the refrigerant, the header including an upper header and a lower header, a check valve disposed between the upper header and the lower header to guide the refrigerant to flow in one direction, and a bypass tube extending from the lower header to the second inlet/outlet tube to guide a discharge of a liquid refrigerant existing in the lower header.
