Abstract: A mobile terminal including a touch screen configured to switch between an inactivated state in which illumination is not applied to the touch screen and an activated state in which illumination is applied to the touch screen, and a controller configured to release a locked state of the mobile terminal and switch the touch screen to the activated state, when a plurality of touch inputs is input in the inactivated state and the plurality of touch inputs matches a predefined pattern. Further, the predetermined pattern is initially set using a quadrant image displayed on the touch screen in the activated state, touch inputs for setting the predetermined pattern are applied to at least one of quadrant I, II, III and IV included in the quadrant image displayed on the touch screen in the activated state of the touch screen, a first touch input included in the plurality of touch inputs in the inactivated state is applied to the touch screen, and quadrant areas on the touch screen for receiving the plurality of touch inputs in the inactivated state change based on a first touch position of the first touch input and a second touch position of a second touch input of the plurality of touch inputs in the inactivated state.

Abstract: A mobile terminal including a display; a touch sensor configured to detect a touch input on the display; and a controller configured to activate the display and periodically drive the touch sensor with a first period; deactivate the display in response to a predetermined condition and periodically drive the touch sensor with a second period greater than the first period; detect a first tap input applied on the touch sensor in state of the deactivated display; determine a region of the display that corresponds to the first tap input; detect a second tap input applied on the touch sensor in state of the deactivated display within a predefined time period from the first tap input; determine if the second tap input is applied within the region; in response to the second tap input being applied within the region of the display that corresponds to the first tap input, activate the display and periodically drive the touch sensor with the first period; and in response to the second tap input being applied to a spot outside the region of the display that corresponds to the first tap input, maintain the deactivation of the display and periodically drive the touch sensor with the second period.

Abstract: A mobile terminal is disclosed. The mobile terminal comprises: a case; an input module installed at the case, the input module acquiring a touch input of a user; and a controller generating a control signal, wherein the input module includes: a button having a plurality of holes, the plurality of holes located on the case; a capacitive sensor located in the case, the capacitive sensor acquiring a variation of a electrostatic capacitance in accordance with the touch input; and a dielectric layer located between the button and the capacitive sensor; wherein the electrostatic capacitance includes: a first electrostatic capacitance generated between the user and the capacitive sensor through the plurality of holes; and a second electrostatic capacitance generated between the button and the capacitive sensor, and wherein the controller generates the control signal when the capacitive sensor acquires the variations of the first and second electrostatic capacitances.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a method for controlling the same. The present invention determines whether received touch input is touch input by a finger of a user and, when a function executed by the touch input requires authentication, provides a user interface necessary for authentication differently according to whether the touch input is touch input by the user's finger. Accordingly, fingerprint authentication is processed as necessary, thereby improving processor efficiency.

Abstract: A vehicle includes a sensing unit for sensing an authentication input of a user, the sensing unit including a sensor configured to sense one or more taps that are applied by the user to arbitrary positions within a preset region of the vehicle as the authentication input. The vehicle control apparatus also includes a control apparatus that includes a memory configured to store an authentication information and a controller configured to determine whether the authentication input matches the stored authentication information.
