    摘要: A processing device (40) for processing an analog complex input signal generated by downconversion of an aggregated-spectrum radio-frequency signal in a radio-receiver (10), wherein the complex input signal comprises a plurality of sub bands (S1-S4) scattered across a total frequency band (4) of the complex input signal. The processing device (40) comprises a plurality of processing paths (P1-PN). wherein each processing path (P1-PN) is adapted to process an associated sub band (S1-S4). Each processing path comprises a complex mixer (CM1-CMN) adapted to frequency translate the complex input signal, and an analog channel-selection filter (CSF1-CSFN) arranged to filter an output signal of the complex mixer (CM1-CMN) and pass the frequency translated associated sub band (S1-S4). A control unit (60) is adapted to receive control data indicating frequency locations of the sub bands (S1-S4) and, for each processing path (P1-PN). control the local oscillator signal of the complex mixer (CM1-CMN) of the processing path (P1-PN) based on the frequency location of the associated sub band (S1-S4) and the passband of the channel-selection filter (CSF1-CSFN) of the processing path (P1-PN), such that the frequency-translated associated sub band (S1-S4) appears within a passband of the channel-selection filter (CSF1-CSFN) of the processing path (P1-PN). The distortion monitored in the unused paths may be used to improve the performance of the used paths.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling the power consumption of a receiver based on current operating conditions is described herein. A receiver according to the present invention applies a received signal to a variable filter. The received signal includes a desired in-band signal. Depending on the current operating conditions, the received signal may further include one or more unwanted out-of-band blocking signals. A filter controller controls one or more operating parameters of the variable filter to maintain the power ratio at the filter output of the power of the blocking signal(s) to the in-band signal at or below a desired level. In so doing, the present invention controls the receiver power consumption while still providing the desired receiver performance.

The frequency translation filter comprises a mixer 503 configured to mix the RF signal 501 received on a first input with a local oscillator (LO) signal 505 received on a second input. A filter 507 comprises a frequency dependent load impedance, the filter having band-pass characteristics which, when frequency translated using the mixer 503, contain first and second pass-bands corresponding to the first and second non-contiguous carriers or non-contiguous frequency ranges. The first and second pass-bands are centered about the local oscillator frequency.

One or more processing circuits, of the mobile node or a network node, determine the value of a control setting that defines a power efficiency configuration of the mobile node. In one embodiment, for example, the power efficiency configuration indicates the mobile node is configured to operate at the maximum power efficiency attainable without the data rate of the data transmission falling below a minimum data rate required by a quality of service. Regardless, the one or more processing circuits select from different possible bandwidths of the data transmission a bandwidth that supports a given data rate and that, according to a power efficiency model that models power efficiency of the mobile node for the different possible bandwidths, yields a power efficiency comporting with the power efficiency configuration.

    摘要: A method of scheduling wireless data transmissions between a mobile terminal and a base station using multiple system carrier signals is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of receiving (101) the mobile terminal information from the base station indicating available system carriers; detecting (102) at least one dynamic parameter indicative of the mobile terminal's current capability to handle non-contiguous system carriers; determining (103) from the dynamic parameter whether a situation has occurred where the mobile terminal's capability to handle non-contiguous system carriers has been reduced; modifying (104), in such case, feedback information to be transmitted to the base station; and transmitting (105) the modified feedback information to the base station. By modifying the feedback information in this way the mobile terminal reduces the likelihood that the base station allocates non-contiguous system carriers to the mobile terminal in situations where it has a reduced capability of handling such system carriers.
