摘要： A method for coherent estimation of the traffic-to-pilot energy ratio is presented. A received preamble is decoded, and then re-encoded. The received preamble is then multiplied by the re-encoded preamble. The results are summed, squared, and then divided by a pilot energy value. In another method, a message carrying energy information can be inserted between a subpacket preamble and a subpacket.

The methods described provide for the transmission power of the base stations to be aligned. In the first exemplary embodiment, the transmitters are attached to a separate control unit through communication links. The control unit then derives the most likely command stream and send that to the base stations. In the second exemplary embodiment, the control unit periodically receives the final or average transmit level in a period and an aggregate quality measure for the feedback during a period from each of the transmitters. The control unit determines the aligned power level and transmits a message indicative of the aligned power level to the transmitters. In the third exemplary embodiment, the transmitters send the control unit a message indicative of the transmit power of transmissions to the receiver. The control unit determines the aligned transmit power based on the current transmit power.

摘要： In a wireless communication system a method for combination transmission of packet data and low delay data. In one embodiment a parallel signaling channel provides a message to receivers indicating a target recipient of packet data. The message also identifies the transmission channels used for packet data transmissions. Each receiver may then selectively decode only packets where the message identifies the receiver as a target recipient. The data packets stored in a buffer are ignored if the target recipient is another mobile unit. In one embodiment, the message is sent concurrently with the data packet on a parallel channel. In one embodiment, the message is punctured into the high rate packet data transmission.

摘要： Method and apparatus for providing link quality feedback to a transmitter in one embodiment, a periodic link quality message is transmitted on a gated channel, while continuous differential indicators are transmitted. Between quality messages, the differential indicators track the quality of the link. The periodic quality messages provide synchronization to the transmitter and receiver. A coding is applied to the feedback information identifying the transmitter, in one embodiment, a remote station includes a differential analyzer (212) to determine the change in successive channel quality measurements. In an alternate embodiment, link quality feedback information is gated according to channel condition.

摘要： Method and apparatus for transmitting a signal at a predetermined level of reliability using retransmission of erroneously transmitted frames so as to minimize total transmission energy. The transmitting station evaluates the frame error rate (FER) as a function of energy. Next, the transmitting station determines a combination of initial transmission energies and retransmission energies that will provide the target level of reliability while minimizing the total transmission energy employed in the initial transmission and the retransmissions. The transmitting station transmits a frame with an initial transmission energy. Employing conventional feedback methods the transmitting station is alerted to the occurrence of frame errors at the receiving station. The transmitting station upon notification of a frame error retransmits the frame with an energy determined to minimize the total energy required to transmit the frame with a predetermined level of reliability.
