摘要： A method of providing digital data services between a communications service provider and a customer site over a communications loop may include predicting a level of performance of the communications loop without coupling a modem to the communications loop at the customer site to provide a predicted level of performance of the communications loop. The communications loop may be qualified for an initial qualified level of digital data service based on the predicted level of performance of the communications loop. After qualifying the communications loop, digital data service may be provided over the communications loop at the initial qualified level using a modem coupled to the communications loop at the customer site, and a measured level of performance of the communications loop may be obtained based on data communicated between the communications service provider and the modem over the communications loop. The measured level of performance may then be compared with the predicted level of performance. Related systems and computer program products are also discussed.

The telecommunication system further includes a subscriber unit coupled to the asymmetrical digital subscriber line. The subscriber unit monitors the content of at least one of the plurality of data packets, receives an off-hook signal in response to an action of a user, and initiates a first derived digital telephone line of the plurality of derived digital telephone lines in response to the off-hook signal.

The method includes the steps of dialing a telephone number associated with a facsimile machine connected to a digital subscriber line and routing facsimile data over the digital subscriber line. The system includes a facsimile machine coupled to an ATM switch that is, in turn , coupled to a digital subscriber line, wherein the digital subscriber line includes a first virtual circuit and a second virtual circuit.

摘要： A data transmission system that can controllably transmit data in three different modes between connected data devices. The first mode transmits data at a 64 Kbps rate. The second mode transmits data at a 56 Kbps rate plus control signals at an 8 Kbps rate. The third mode transmits data and control messages at a rate of up to 50 Kbps between connected terminals or other data devices. For all modes, the data is transmitted by inserting it one byte at a time into an information field of successive ones of cyclically reoccurring time multiplexed frames.

In one embodiment, a method includes the act of receiving a plurality of subscriber metrics associated with a subscriber to an access network. The method also includes the act of modeling the subscriber experience by applying at least one transformation to the plurality of subscriber metrics to produce a set of subscriber experience data. The metrics measure quality of service for a subscriber experience with the access network. Each element of the subscriber experience data quantifies an aspect of the subscriber experience.
