    摘要: A continuous, non-invasive fetal heart rate measurement is produced using an ultrasound probe positioned on the abdomen of the mother. The ultrasound probe includes a plurality of ultrasound transducers that are positioned within a housing having a transmission surface. The transmission surface is configured to defocus the individual ultrasound beams created by the plurality of ultrasound transducers. The transmission surface defocuses the ultrasound beam and creates a wider area of coverage for the ultrasound probe. The controller contained within the heart rate monitor selectively activates different combinations of the plurality of ultrasound transducers to reduce the signal-to-noise ratio while allowing the ultrasound probe to locate the fetal heart beat and subsequently increase the signal-to-noise ratio during continuous heart rate monitoring.

    摘要: A system for dynamic optimization of gain and contrast in ultrasound imaging includes an image processor module programmed to dynamically estimate a correction profile in real-time and apply the correction profile to adjust a gain and contrast of image frame data sets. The image processor module is programmed to identify tissue and background regions in an image frame data set, determine an image intensity for each of the tissue and background regions, and formulate a gain profile based on the image intensity of the tissue region to compensate the gain variation of an image. The image processor module is further programmed to calculate an image contrast metric based on the image intensity of the tissue and background regions, and modify a gray map of the image frame data set based on the image contrast metric to adjust the contrast of an image displayed on the display system.

    摘要: Ultrasound data is generated by a receive beamformer. Ultrasound image processing is applied to the ultrasound data for presentation of an image. Various ones of the ultrasound image processing steps may be reversed. For example, persistence processing may be reversed in order to obtain ultrasound data associated with data prior to persistence processing. This recovered data may be used to generate an image or for application of a different amount of persistence. Other processes that may be reversed to recover ultrasound data include focal and depth gain compensation, dynamic range compression, intensity or color mapping, and various filtering, such as persistence or spatial filtering.

In an exemplary embodiment, a catheter distal end (1000) comprises an ultrasound imaging assembly (1003) that comprises an actuator (1004), a drive shaft (1006), a section (1008) of an interconnect (1010), and a transducer assembly (1009). A circulation fin (1018) optionally may be affixed to the bottom (1016) of transducer assembly (1009), and extends into a defined space (1017) to enhance circulation of acoustic transmission medium that is in the defined space (1017). This disperses heat from the actuator (1004) and the transducer assembly (1009). A similar fin (1018) may also, or alternatively, be positioned on the section (1008) of interconnect (1010). Other thermal management approaches also are disclosed.
