摘要: This disclosure describes, among other features, systems and methods for using multiple physiological parameter inputs to determine multiparameter confidence in respiratory rate measurements. For example, a patient monitoring system can programmatically determine multiparameter confidence in respiratory rate measurements obtained from an acoustic sensor based at least partly on inputs obtained from other non-acoustic sensors or monitors. The patient monitoring system can output a multiparameter confidence indication reflective of the programmatically-determined multiparameter confidence. The multiparameter confidence indication can assist a clinician in determining whether or how to treat a patient based on the patient's respiratory rate.

摘要: A non-invasive electronic patient monitor tracks one or more physiological parameters of a patient, such as intravascular volume index (IVI), extravascular volume index (EVI), total hemoglobin (SpHb), impedance, and/or weight. The patient monitor determines if one or more of the physiological parameters are within a predetermined range. The patient monitor activates an alarm if one or more of the physiological parameters are outside the predetermined range and indicates a patient can be experiencing edema and/or heart failure, or sepsis.

摘要: A method of monitoring a subject, such as a patient, using rules is provided. The method includes receiving data from the subject, and applying the data to a rule-based algorithm. The method also preferably includes generating a response based on the application of the rule-based algorithm. Some examples of responses include generating an alarm, generating a suggested reason for an identification of an abnormal condition, and generating a suggested response to an abnormal condition that has been identified. Preferably, more than one set of variables is applied to a particular rule-based algorithm. A monitor using the method may be configured to have multiple rule-based algorithms selected and applied simultaneously. Each rule-based algorithm can generate a unique response, or a combination can be used to generate a smaller number of responses. Also, a monitor using this method may be configured to allow rule-based algorithms to be exchanged and/or altered.

摘要: A multi-fiber ribbon-coupled multi-channel, optical amplifier architecture has a very compact form factor that facilitates one-for-one alignment with and coupling to each optical fiber of a multi-fiber ribbon. A dual substrate structure contains a first substrate having a signal transport core laminated with a second substrate having an associated pumping energy-receiving, pseudo-cladding layer. This use of separate substrates prevents dopant material of the signal transport core from intruding into the pseudo-cladding material. The bulk layers are polished and laminated so that the signal transport core is in intimate face-to-face abutment with the pseudo-cladding layer. The back side of the bulk containing the pseudo-cladding material is lapped and polished to expose pseudo-cladding material, and provide a generally planar surface that facilitates coupling of the pseudo-cladding layer (and its abutting core) with a pumping energy source.

摘要: A modular patient monitor provides a multipurpose, scalable solution for various patient monitoring applications. In an embodiment, a modular patient monitor utilizes multiple wavelength optical sensor and/or acoustic sensor technologies to provide blood constituent monitoring and acoustic respiration monitoring (ARM) at its core, including pulse oximetry parameters and additional blood parameter measurements such as carboxyhemoglobin (HbCO) and methemoglobin (HbMet). Expansion modules provide blood pressure BP, blood glucose, ECG, CO2, depth of sedation and cerebral oximetry to name a few.Aspects of the present disclosure also include a transport dock for providing enhanced portability and functionally to handheld monitors. In an embodiment, the transport dock provides one or more docking interfaces for placing monitoring components in communication with other monitoring components. In an embodiment, the transport dock attaches to the modular patient monitor.
