Abstract: A vehicular communication system includes a communication device in a vehicle. Responsive to the communication device receiving an input from a vehicle system indicative of a service need, the communication device requests an input from the driver of the vehicle pertaining to a desired characteristic of a service provider that can address the service need. Responsive to the communication device receiving the input from the driver, the vehicular communication system determines a plurality of service providers that (i) can address the service need and (ii) has the desired characteristic. The communication device communicates a list of the determined service providers to the driver and, responsive to the driver selecting a service provider from the list, the vehicular communication system sets a navigation system of the vehicle to navigate to the selected service provider.

Abstract: A method for testing a vehicular driving assist system includes providing a neural network and training the neural network using a database of images, with each image of the database of images including an image of a headlight or a taillight of a vehicle. The trained neural network is provided with an input image that does not include a headlight or a taillight. The neural network, using the input image, generates an output image, with the output image including an image of a headlight or taillight generated by the neural network. The output image is provided as an input to the driving assist system to test the driving assist system.

Abstract: A camera simulation system or method or process for simulating performance of a camera for a vehicle includes providing a camera having a lens and imager and providing a learning algorithm. Image data is captured from a raw image input of the camera and the captured image data and raw image input are output from the camera. The output image data and the raw image input are provided to the learning algorithm. The learning algorithm is trained to simulate performance of the lens and/or the imager using the output captured image data and the raw image data input. The performance of the lens and/or the imager is simulated responsive to the learning algorithm receiving raw images.

Abstract: A method for labeling events of interest in vehicular sensor data includes accessing sensor data captured by a plurality of sensors disposed at a vehicle, and providing a trigger condition including a plurality of threshold values. The trigger condition is satisfied when values representative of the sensor data satisfy each threshold value. An event of interest is identified when the trigger condition is satisfied at a point in time of the recording of sensor data. A visual indication of the event of interest is displayed on a graphical user interface. Visual elements derived from a portion of the sensor data representative of the event of interest are displayed on the graphical user interface. A label for the event of interest is received from a user. The label and the sensor data representative of the point in time are stored at a database time.

Abstract: A method for training a vehicular occupant monitoring system includes accessing a frame image data captured by a camera disposed at a vehicle and viewing an occupant present in the vehicle. A first artificial visual characteristic for the occupant is generated. A first modified frame of image data is generated that includes the accessed frame with the first artificial visual characteristic overlaying a first portion of the occupant. A second artificial visual characteristic is generated for the occupant. The second artificial visual characteristic is different than the first artificial visual characteristic. A second modified frame of image data is generated that includes the accessed frame with the second v artificial visual characteristic overlaying a second portion of the occupant. The vehicular occupant monitoring system is trained using the first modified frame of image data and the second modified frame of image data.

Abstract: A method for determining trailer angle includes determining angles of a trailer hitch relative to a data recording device via an angle measuring device while the trailer hitch pivots about a hitch ball of the device. While the trailer hitch pivots about the hitch ball of the device, trailer hitch information is determined responsive to processing of captured image data and responsive to determined angles of the trailer hitch. After determining trailer hitch information, data representative of the determined information is provided to an electronic device, which is disposed at a vehicle having a rear backup camera that has a field of view that encompasses a hitch ball of the vehicle and at least a portion of a hitch of a trailer hitched to the vehicle. Using the provided data, and responsive to processing of captured image data, an angle of the trailer relative to the vehicle is determined.

Abstract: A method for training a vehicular occupant monitoring system includes disposing a first camera at a test vehicle that captures first image data representative of electromagnetic radiation having a first range of wavelengths and a second camera that captures second image data representative of electromagnetic radiation having a second range of wavelengths. The method includes disposing markers at an occupant seated at the seat of the test vehicle that, based on the first range and the second range of wavelengths, are (i) represented in the second image data and (ii) not represented in the first image data. The method includes annotating, using one or more frames of captured second image data comprising the imaged markers, locations of the markers at the occupant within one or more frames of captured first image data and training the vehicular occupant monitoring system using the annotated frames.
