Abstract: A method of applying power-saving feature assistance information for emergency PDU session or PDN connection for emergency bearer service associated with 3GPP access is provided. In 5GS, when an emergency PDU session (associated with 3GPP access) is successfully established after the UE received the Negotiated PEIPS assistance information IE during the last registration procedure, the UE does not use the PEIPS assistance information until the emergency PDU session is successfully moved out of 5GS 3GPP access. In EPS, when an PDN connection for emergency bearer service is successfully established after the UE received the Negotiated WUS assistance information IE during the last registration (Attach/TAU) procedure, the UE does not use the WUS assistance information until the PDN connection for emergency bearer service is successfully moved out of EPS.

Abstract: A method of handling invalid PDU session during handover procedure between non-3GPP access and 3GPP access in a mobile communication network is proposed. A UE establishes a PDU session over a first RAT, and then tries to handover the PDU session from the first RAT to a second RAT. However, at the network side, the PDU session over the first RAT does not exist anymore and the network considers the PDU session to be invalid. The network thus sends a PDU session establishment reject message back to the UE, with a 5GSM status message cause value #54 indicating “PDU session does not exist”. At the UE side, the PDU session over the first RAT is still valid (e.g., not inactive). In order to resynchronize with the network, the UE performs a PDU session release procedure to release the PDU session over the first RAT.

Abstract: A method of defining ATtention (AT) commands for supporting Service and Session Continuity (SSC) mode 2 and SSC mode 3 of 5G Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session operations is proposed. The AT command can be a notification of an unsolicited result code +CGEV: NW PDN DEACT, +CGEV: NW MODIFY, or +CGEV: ME PDN ACT, or a configuration command +CGDCONT with additional 5G parameters. Additional 5G parameters include an SSC, an old CID, a change reason and a PDU lifetime for the purpose of communicating information regarding the request of PDU session anchor relocation.

Abstract: A method of enhanced error handling for 5G QoS operations associated with a PDU session is proposed. A QoS operation can be received via a PDU session modification procedure. In one example, the QoS operation is to create a new QoS rule for a PDU session, however, there is an existing QoS rule having the same QoS rule ID (QRI). The UE detects whether the QoS operation will causing the PDU session have no default QoS rule or have more than one default QoS rules. If the existing QoS rule is a default QoS rule, or if the new QoS rule have a default QoS rule (DQR) indication bit set to be true, then the UE rejects the QoS operation and indicates a QoS operation error to the network.

Abstract: Various solutions for single network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI) based congestion control with respect to user equipment and network apparatus in mobile communications are described. An apparatus may receive a message with a back-off timer from the network node. The apparatus may determine whether an S-NSSAI of a protocol data unit (PDU) session is provided by the network node. The apparatus may start the back-off timer and associate the back-off timer with the S-NSSAI of the PDU session in an event that the S-NSSAI is provided by the network node.

Abstract: AT commands are used for controlling Mobile Termination (MT) functions and GSM/UMTS network services from a Terminal Equipment (TE) through Terminal Adaptor (TA). 3GPP introduces multiple backoff timers and barring to solve network congestion problem. However, a TE does not know the timer value and the barring status. In accordance with one novel aspect, a new AT command interface that can respond timer value and barring status to the TE is proposed. It reduces wasteful retries and saves power consumption of the TE. Through the new AT command interface, the TE can query backoff timer status. Via unsolicited result code (URC), the MT can detect backoff timer status change and report updated backoff timer status to the TE.

Abstract: A method of enhancing IP packet forwarding feature support after interworking is proposed. When a PDU session in 5GS is transferred to a PDN connection in EPS, the UE shall assume the feature is supported after inter-system change from 5GS to EPS. When a PDN connection is established in EPS, the network indicated that the feature is not supported, and the network provided 5GSM parameters for ESM/5GSM interworking for this PDN connection, then UE shall assume the feature is supported after inter-system change from EPS to 5GS, the UE shall also assume the feature is supported after inter-system change from 5GS back to EPS. The IP packet forwarding features include PS data off and local IP address in TFT.
