摘要: A free-flowing, coated, frozen food and a method for making the same are disclosed. Discrete pieces of a free-flowing frozen food are introduced into a coating vessel where they are agitated to expose their surfaces and to maintain their free-flowing state throughout the coating process. A liquid coating material is sprayed onto the free-flowing pieces to cause coating material to adhere and the temperature at the surfaces of the frozen food pieces to rise. The surfaces of frozen food pieces are then recooled with a cryogen. The spraying and recooling steps are repeated until a thorough, even coating is built up on the discrete pieces of free-flowing food.

摘要: A solenoid comprising a first coil positioned within a frame from which a magnetizable armature, having a coil end and a free end, extends, the coil end of the armature having a section of non-magnetizable material secured to it, and a second coil, which coil is energizable in a manner independent from that of the first coil, the second coil being secured to the other end of the non-magnetizable material so as to move with the armature from a position adjacent the first coil when the armature is in extended position to a position spaced therefrom when the armature is in retracted position, whereby when the first coil is energized to move the armature along its throw into retracted position, the second coil is simultaneously energized so as produce a repulsive magnetic force with respect to that of the first coil. Magnetizable bridge devices are secured to the frame and automatically movable, upon energization of the coil and movement of the armature along its throw to retracted position, to become seatably positioned within the space between the coils over an end of the first coil in contact with the armature to provide across the coil end of the armature a magnetically conductive path for the magnetic field which will hold the armature firmly in retracted position, and, upon de-energization of the coils and return of the armature to its extended position, to become automatically moved from its seated position to a position and become clear of the space between the first and second coils.

摘要: A pulsed-field gradient gel electrophoretic apparatus is described wherein a free standing gel is employed. Electrode arrays are oriented to provide three dimensional fields across the face of the gel rather than in the plane of the gel. The electrodes produce three dimensional fields which are orthogonally oriented with respect to each other and cause the molecules to proceed down the lanes in the gel in a generally saw-tooth manner oscillating between the surfaces thereof. Alternately, three dimensional, electric fields are arranged at angles greater than 90.degree. to one another across the face of the gel in separating the molecules, following which transfer electrodes are substituted for the separation electrodes in order to transfer the molecules from their separation lanes onto a separate substrate.

摘要: Computer-implemented methods, systems, and computer-readable storage mediums are provided for use with a clinical decision support system for identifying and providing information regarding associations between patient attributes and one or more Adverse Events (AEs). In one example, a process includes processing database information comprising AEs and one or more patient attributes for associations between AEs and patient attributes and identifying at least one association between one or more AEs and one or more patient attributes. The association(s) may be discovered through an association rule discovery process to determine one or more association rules, where each association rule satisfies a confidence, support, and/or other threshold. The exemplary process further provides information or alerts to a user based on the identified or discovered association(s). The information may further be used to weight and reprioritize search results for AEs based on drug (prescription or otherwise) safety or efficacy information.

摘要: A method and apparatus for using information about a mobile terminal's location relative to a base station can improve performance of a communication system. In addition, information about the mobile terminal's velocity relative to the base station may be used to improve performance of the communication system. The location information may be used to estimate a nominal PN offset, and a set of PN offset to use, for processing communication signals. The velocity information may be used to estimate a nominal frequency of the communication signals.
