摘要： An outboard motor is provided, the motor including a V-multicylinder engine arranged horizontally and an intake silencer arranged above the engine. The V engine has an engine block including cylinder blocks extending in a V configuration, forming an opening to the rear of the outboard motor. The intake silencer is arranged above the engine block to match the shape of the V engine. The intake silencer has two inlets opening rearwards of the outboard motor and one outlet positioned between the inlets for introducing air to combustion chambers of the cylinder heads. The two inlets are positioned above the cylinder blocks in a V configuration, respectively.

摘要： An air intake muffler has an enclosure having a longitudinal axis, a first portion, and a second portion defining with the first portion an interior space of the enclosure. An air intake connecting duct is formed unitarily with the first portion of the enclosure and extends outwardly from the interior space of the enclosure. A pair of outside air intake ducts for introducting outside air into the interior space of the enclosure diverge in a V-shaped configuration from the longitudinal axis of the enclosure. Each of the outside air intake ducts has a pair of mating concave portions each formed unitarily with a respective one of the first and second portions of the enclosure and extending outwardly from the interior space of the enclosure.

摘要： A water-cooled internal combustion engine has a cylinder head 21 provided with a cylinder head water jacket Jh through which cooling water flows. The cylinder head water jacket Jh includes a combustion chamber water jacket 70 surrounding combustion chambers 26 and an exhaust passage water jacket 71 around an exhaust manifold passage 38. The exhaust gas discharged from the combustion chambers 26 through exhaust ports 28 flows through the exhaust manifold passage. The exhaust passage water jacket 71 is divided into an upstream water jacket 72a and a downstream water jacket 72b by a partition wall 75. The cooling water flows from both the upstream water jacket 72a and the downstream water jacket 72a into the combustion chamber water jacket 70. Equality in temperature between a combustion chamber wall and an exhaust passage wall is improved and the cylinder head 21 is heated in a uniform temperature distribution.

The left and right cover members are fixed at their respective rear portions to the bracket. Centerline of an engine cylinder is offset from a centerline of the engine room toward one of left and right sides of the unit, and an ignition plug is provided on the other side opposite from the one side toward which the engine cylinder centerline is offset.

An upper wall of a flywheel chamber (59) accommodating the flywheel 56 is made up of a bottom wall of a crank chamber made of a crankcase (30), etc., and a bottom wall (30a) of the crankcase (30) forming a front portion of the engine body (3) has a return oil path 71 formed forward of an inner circumferential wall surface (60e) of a circumferential wall (60) of the flywheel chamber (59) and having inflow openings (71a, 71b) through which lubricant oil flows from the crank chamber. Such outboard engine prevents output loss by preventing or minimizing lubricant oil staying in the crank chamber while the engine is driven in a tilt-up condition.

摘要： In a pump driving device in an engine, driving a pump shaft of a pump mounted to an engine body by a valve-operating cam shaft supported by the engine body, a bolt is threadedly engaged with one end of the cam shaft, the bolt having a head portion in which a polygonal hole is formed, and a polygonal shaft portion is formed at one end of the pump shaft so as to be fitted into the polygonal hole. The pump shaft is driven by the cam shaft via the polygonal hole and the polygonal shaft portion. Thus, a large driving torque can be transmitted from the cam shaft to the pump shaft without reducing any effective support surface of a journal portion of the cam shaft.
