Abstract: A pump device includes a housing, a pump element, and an on-off valve. The housing includes a suction passage defining a suction port at an upstream end, a discharge passage defining a discharge port at a downstream end, and a return passage returning a part of a fluid flowing through the discharge passage to midway of the suction passage. The pump element is accommodated in the housing and rotates around a predetermined axis to suck, pressurize, and discharge a fluid. The on-off valve opens and closes the return passage. In the suction passage upstream of an opening at which the return passage is opened to the suction passage, the housing includes a directional wall which directs a flow of a suction fluid sucked into the suction passage from the suction port to divert from a flow of a return fluid returned from the return passage.

Abstract: A pump shaft support structure includes: a crankcase body which rotatably supports a crankshaft of an engine; a pump shaft which interlockingly rotates with the crankshaft; a crankcase cover which covers the crankcase body; a pump cover which is coupled to the crankcase cover to define a pump chamber therebetween; and a pump rotor which is disposed in the pump chamber and engages with the pump shaft. The pump shaft includes: a supported section which is rotatably supported by the pump cover on the other side of the pump chamber from the crankcase cover; and an insertion section adjoining the supported section in an axial direction. The pump cover has a through bore which passes the insertion section of the pump shaft therethrough. The insertion section of the pump shaft has a diameter smaller than that of the supported section.

Abstract: A gerotor pump assembly, and a system and method for operating a gerotor pump assembly, result in a lubrication strategy for operating in a loss-of-prime mode. An inner drive gear may be rotated in a first direction and in a second opposite direction about an axis of rotation. The inner drive gear has a number of projections extending outwardly therefrom. An outer driven gear surrounds the inner drive gear and defines a number of recessions along an inner surface configured to engage with the projections of the inner drive gear. The outer driven gear and the inner drive gear further define at least one dynamically-changing fluid cavity therebetween. The inner drive gear and the outer driven gear define an oil transfer volume clearance between a projection and a recession in a fully engaged position. Oil is maintained within the oil transfer volume clearance as the inner drive gear is rotated.

The guide portion is configured to guide a displacement of the adjustment member relative to the pump housing by allowing the guide hole and the pin to engage with each other. The variable oil pump includes a drain passage configured to drain oil accumulated in the guide hole.

The oil rise passage is disposed at a position closer to the control oil chamber side than the oil descent passage. Abstract: In a variable displacement type oil pump, a swing member accommodates a pump forming member, and swings to vary a quantity of change of a volumetric capacity of each pump chamber. A biasing member biases the swing member in a direction to increase the quantity of change of the volumetric capacity of each pump chamber. A first control oil chamber applies a first torque to the swing member in a direction to reduce the quantity of change of the volumetric capacity of each pump chamber. A second control oil chamber applies a second torque to the swing member in a direction to increase the quantity of change of the volumetric capacity of each pump chamber, wherein the second torque is larger than the first torque. A switching mechanism switches between supply and drain of working oil with respect to the second control oil chamber.
