    摘要: A glaze composition suitable for a thin chip substrate, for example. The glaze composition makes a low-temperature glazing possible and is superior in the electrical and chemical stability. The glaze composition can prevent even a thin substrate from warping and can easily form an extensive smooth glaze layer without deteriorating a thin glaze face. The components of the composition are 20% to 50% by weight of boron oxide, 5% to 35% by weight of aluminum oxide, and 15% to 55% by weight of at least one alkaline-earth oxide selected from the group consisting of calcium oxide, strontium oxide, magnesium oxide and barium oxide.

    摘要: A gas sensor has a sensor cell unit which includes a detection member made up of an oxygen concentration cell, oxygen pump cell and a spacer interposed between the oxygen concentration cell and the oxygen pump cell to define therebetween a measurement gas chamber. The spacer has a pair of communicating holes for providing communication between the measurement gas chamber and the outside. Diffusion control layers made of porous material are formed within the communicating holes of the spacer so as to control flow of the detection gas into the measurement gas chamber, etc. The diffusion control layer is made of alumina and has on the outer surface thereof (i.e., on the inner peripheral surfaces thereof defining gas permeating pores) a thin Ca coating which inhibits formation of a substance which is in a liquid phase at a temperature range in which the gas sensor is used, due to reaction of the alumina forming the diffusion control layer with a suspended component of the detection gas such as phosphorus (P) in an engine exhaust gas.

    摘要: A biologically active ceramic suitable as a substitute for hard tissues in a living body is disclosed, comprising a dense calcium phosphate ceramic body having formed thereon a surface layer mainly comprising at least one of hydroxyapatite and calcium tertiary .beta.-phosphate and having a surface roughness of from 10 to 1000 .mu.m. The surface layer is formed by forming a calcium phosphate coating containing hydroxyapatite and a phosphate or phosphate-containing glass capable of reacting with hydroxyapatite to form calcium tertiary phosphate on a calcium phosphate molded article or a sintered body thereof and calcining the calcium phosphate molded or sintered body with the calcium phosphate coating at a temperature of from 700.degree. to 1350.degree. C. to allow a part or the whole of the hydroxyapatite to react to form calcium tertiary .beta.-phosphate. The ceramic has improved bioaffinity and sufficient mechanical strength, and can be integrated into hard tissues in a reduced period of time.
