Abstract: A floor element for forming a floor covering, wherein the floor element comprises a decorative layer made of a ceramic material and a support layer arranged below the decorative layer, wherein the support layer comprises edges provided with coupling elements configured to allow a mechanical coupling with coupling elements of an adjacent floor element and wherein the floor element comprises an intermediate layer having a resin material that permeates a lower surface of the decorative layer. A method for manufacturing a floor element, comprising the steps of: (i) providing a decorative layer made of a ceramic material; (II) providing a support layer; (iii) providing a resin material for bonding the decorative layer and the support layer together; (iv) pressing the layers together for forming the floor element such that the resin material permeates the ceramic layer.

Abstract: A fiber reinforced composite component may include interleaved textile layers and ceramic particle layers coated with matrix material. The fiber reinforced composite component may be fabricated by forming a fibrous preform and densifying the fibrous preform. The fibrous preform may be fabricated by forming a first ceramic particle layer over a first textile layer, disposing a second textile layer over the first ceramic particle layer, forming a second ceramic particle layer over the second textile layer, and disposing a third textile layer over the second ceramic particle layer.

Abstract: A method of forming a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) vane comprises drawing a continuous fiber sheet over at least one contoured surface to form a single-folded sheet. The single-folded sheet comprises an airfoil portion, a first platform at a first end of the airfoil portion, and an integral transition region between the airfoil portion and the first platform. The method further comprises mounting the airfoil portion on a mandrel, attaching a second platform to a second, opposing end of the airfoil portion to form a vane preform, and densifying the vane preform.

Abstract: An example sacrificial fire shield for shielding an aircraft part during a fire event includes a fiberglass layer, a ceramic fiber layer including heat-resistant fibers that is positioned on the fiberglass layer. The ceramic fiber layer and the fiberglass layer comprise a stack-up and the stack-up is pre-impregnated with rubber. The sacrificial fire shield also includes a durable outer layer comprising aramid fibers. The durable outer layer is positioned on the ceramic fiber layer to enable press curing into a form factor.
