Abstract: A patient monitoring system to help manage a patient that is at risk of falling is disclosed. The system includes a patient-worn wireless sensor that senses the patient's motion and wirelessly transmits information indicative of the sensed motion to a patient monitor. The patient monitor receives, stores, and processes the transmitted information to determine whether the patient has fallen or is about to fall. Upon such detection, the system can notify the patient's caretakers that the patient has fallen or is about to fall and therefore, is in need of immediate attention.

Abstract: Various noninvasive physiological sensors are described herein. Some implementations of the sensors described herein include multiple emitters and/or detectors positioned at various portions of a measurement site and configured to operate in either or both of transmittance and reflectance modes. In one implementation, a noninvasive physiological sensor includes a body portion configured to secure to a finger of a subject, an emitter operably positioned by the body portion at a first side of the finger and configured to emit light of one or more wavelengths into tissue of the finger, a first detector operably positioned by the body portion at a second side of the finger opposite the first side, and a second detector operably positioned by the body portion at a third side of the finger and offset approximately 90 degrees from the emitter with respect to an axis extending through at least a portion of the body portion.

Abstract: A system for critical time-based opioid monitoring system includes a physiological monitoring system having a sensor and a system processing board, a computing device configured to receive the parameters, an indication of normal conditions of a user under the circumstances at the time, such as, for example, a body transfer function or user physiological parameter model, to compare the monitored parameters to the normal conditions, and sending a notification when the monitored parameters deviate from the normal condition of a user. A system to monitor for an opioid event includes a physiological monitoring system comprising a sensor configured to monitor physiological parameters and a signal processing board, a computing device to detect an opioid overdose, and a device to stimulate a response when the computing device detects an opioid overdose event is occurring.

Abstract: A monitoring system can be configured to monitor activities or actions occurring in clinical settings, such as hospitals. The monitoring system can improve patient safety. The system can use visual and/or other tracking methods. The system can detect and/or identify people in a clinical setting. The system can also track activities of the people, for example, to improve adherence to hygiene protocols.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for machine learning based monitoring. Image data from a camera is received. On the hardware accelerator, a person detection model based on the image data is invoked. The person detection model outputs first classification result. Based on the first classification result, a person is detected. Second image data is received from the camera. In response to detecting the person, a fall detection model is invoked on the hardware accelerator based on the second image data. The fall detection model outputs a second classification result. A potential fall based on the second classification result is detected. An alert is provided in response to detecting the potential fall.

Abstract: An overdose of opioids can cause the user to stop breathing, resulting in death. A physiological monitoring system monitors respiration based on oxygen saturation readings from a fingertip pulse oximeter in communication with a smart mobile device and sends opioid monitoring information from the smart mobile device to an opioid overdose monitoring service. The opioid overdose monitoring service notifies a first set of contacts when the opioid monitoring information indicates a non-distress stats and notifies a second set of contact when the opioid monitoring information indicates an overdose event. The notification can be a phone call or text message to a specified person, emergency personnel, or first responders, and can include the location of the smart mobile device. The smart mobile device can also include the location of the nearest treatment center having emergency medication used in treating opioid overdose, such as naloxone.
