    Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a pressure sensor of an implantable medical device. The pressure sensor may utilize detect fluid pressure based on a changing capacitance between two capacitive elements. The pressure sensor may define at least a portion of a fluid enclosure of the IMD. In one example, the pressure sensor has a self-aligning housing shape that occludes an opening in the pump bulkhead of the IMD. An operative surface of the pressure and the portion of the fluid enclosure may be formed of a corrosion resistant and/or biocompatible material. A first capacitive element of the pressure sensor may be a metal alloy diaphragm that deflects in response to external fluid pressure. A second capacitive element of the pressure sensor may be a metal coating on a rigid insulator sealed from the fluid by the diaphragm and a housing of the sensor.

    Abstract: A medicament delivery system configured to reduce the risk of inadvertently injecting medicament directly into a patient during a refill procedure via an external refilling apparatus. The medicament delivery system may include an implantable medical pump having a refillable medicament reservoir accessible via an access port, wherein the refillable medicament reservoir includes a flexible diaphragm having a nonlinear spring rate configured to create a relative vacuum within a medicament chamber when medicament is expelled from the medicament chamber beyond a predefined threshold, so as to spontaneously draw a quantity of medicament into the medicament chamber during the refill procedure to reestablish the predefined threshold, thereby confirming proper placement of a portion of the external refilling apparatus into the access port.

The implantable pump including a pump, an accumulator and a valve configured to enable tuning of a delivery velocity of a fixed quantity of medicament, wherein operating the pump with the valve continuously in the open state enables a steady-state delivery of medicament at a first velocity, and wherein closing of the valve enables the pump to at least partially fill the accumulator and subsequent opening of the valve enables the at least partially filled accumulator to dispense medicament, thereby delivering a bolus of medicament at a second velocity, wherein the second velocity is greater than the first velocity.
