摘要: Methods and devices for reducing costs associated with life settlement transactions include an initial economic evaluation and a targeted but abbreviated verification of information provided by a potential customer and gathering of additional information, followed by a conditional offer for those policies that satisfy the economic criteria (e.g., face value of policy, stated life expectancy, etc.) and for which the abbreviated verification is positive. The verification and additional information may be performed by one or more of following: 1) a query of a prescription database in which the identity and use of the prescription drugs identified by the customer are determined; 2) a questionnaire filled out by a physician treating the patient for a particular illness; and 3) a telephone inquiry of the insured. If the additional information and verification are consistent with the initial information, the life settlement is completed.

摘要: A multiple input multiple output (MIMO) calibration device (360) for calibrating a phase relationship between at least two signals present on at least two radio frequency (RF) paths coupling a wireless communication unit and the MIMO calibration device (360) is described. The MIMO calibration device (360) is operably coupleable via at least two RF paths between a wireless communication unit and an antenna arrangement (219). The calibration device (360) comprises a processing module (490) configured to: process a coupled amount of at least one first signal from a first path operably coupleable to a first polarization of the antenna arrangement (219) to determine at least one pilot signal from said at least one first signal; process a coupled amount of at least one second signal from a second path operably coupleable to at least one second polarization feed of antenna arrangement (219), different to the first polarization, to determine the at least one pilot signal from said at least one second signal; and determine a first phase relationship of the same pilot signal between the at least two RF paths.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide a wireless appliance for monitoring a vehicle. The wireless appliance includes a microprocessor configured to select a vehicle-communication protocol of a host vehicle, and then communicate with the host vehicle through the vehicle-communication protocol. The appliance also includes a vehicle-communication circuit, in electrical communication with the microprocessor, which collects diagnostic data from the host vehicle using the vehicle-communication protocol. A GPS module, also in electrical communication with the microprocessor, generates location-based data. For transmitting these data, the appliance includes a first wireless transmitter operating on a terrestrial network and a second wireless transmitter operating on a satellite network. The microprocessor selects the first or second wireless transmitter for transmitting the diagnostic and location-based data.

摘要: A method for calibrating (700) an antenna array comprises a plurality of antenna elements coupled to a plurality of respective receive paths in a wireless communication system. The method comprises, in receive mode, applying a test signal to an individual single receive path (715) of the plurality of receive paths; and feeding back the test signal via a switched coupler network. The method further comprises running a receive calibration measurement routine to determine at least one measurement value used to calibrate the individual signal receive path and waiting for at least one converged measurement value; and extracting (720) the converged measurement value for at least one individual receive path. The steps of applying, running, extracting for a next individual single receive path are repeated until the calibration routine has completed (725). The method further comprises selecting a converged measurement value of at least one individual receive path from a plurality of receive paths (730) to form a reference receiver calibration result (730); normalizing a plurality of at least one measurement values of the plurality of receive paths using the reference receiver calibration result (730); and applying a normalized value to at least one of the plurality of receive paths.

摘要: A semiconductor device comprising interface logic for transmitting data bursts across an interface. The interface logic is arranged to transmit bursts of data across the interface such that the start of a burst of data is substantially aligned with a symbol interval (SI) boundary. The interface logic is further arranged to apply an offset to the SI boundary at the start of the burst of data.

摘要: A storage and drinking container for pressurized beverages includes a drinking vessel 1 having a lip 3 and a lid formed from a cap 5 and retaining ring 12. The cap 5 seals with a surface 4 on the inside neck of the vessel and is retained in place by fingers 8 engaging under a lip 3. The fingers 8 are retained in position by a retaining ring 12. Cooperating sets of cammed surfaces 10 and 13 on cap 5 and ring 12 act on rotation of the ring to axially separate the ring 12 from the cap 5, releasing the fingers 8 from under the lip 3 and permitting the lid to be removed. A drinking vessel with a wide neck can be reliably sealed without the necessity to provide screw threads on the outer surface of the vessel 1.

摘要: A method of providing spinal stabilization is provided herein. More specifically, the method includes positioning a plurality of fixation assemblies within a plurality of vertebrae in a trans-lamina orientation wherein each fixation assembly includes a proximal portion configured to securely receive a stabilization element (e.g., a stabilization rod). The proximal portions of the various fixation assemblies can be aligned so as to secure at least one stabilization element in a desired position (e.g., along and above a midline of the patient's spine, adjacent and parallel to the midline). A system for providing spinal stabilization is also provided which utilizes trans-lamina delivery and positioning of fixation assemblies within target vertebrae thereby providing stronger fixation and a significant reduction in associated tissue damage.

摘要: A manually operated product dispenser (31) comprises a user interface (37) which operates via a linkage mechanism (36, 34, 39, 40, 38) on a dispensing mechanism (1). The linkage mechanism transfers displacement from the user interface to the dispensing mechanism (1) but incorporates resilient means (40) permitting the user interface to be operated to the full extent permitted by the interface, but transmitting to the dispensing mechanism only as much of the operation of the interface required to permit the dispenser mechanism 1 to dispense a predetermined amount of product.
