摘要: A modular headlamp assembly includes low beam headlamp module for providing illumination in a predetermined light distribution pattern. The low beam headlamp module includes a low beam heat sink and mounting assembly having a low beam heat sink portion with first and second sides. A low beam reflector member is attached to the low beam heat sink and mounting assembly such that the low beam heat sink portion bisects the reflector low beam member into first and second segments. A plurality of LED light sources is supported by the low beam heat sink portion. The reflector assembly and plurality of LED light sources produce a light distribution pattern extending at least 40 degrees in a first horizontal direction and at least 40 degrees in a second horizontal direction, with the light distribution pattern having a sharp horizontal cutoff line parallel to and below a horizon.

摘要: A light assembly and reflector are provided for redirecting light from a light source in a motor vehicle. The reflector generally includes a first parabolic trough, a second parabolic trough, and third trough. The first and second parabolic troughs define first and second trough axes. The third trough has a third trough axis. The first and second parabolic troughs are positioned on opposing sides of the third trough, and the first and second trough axes are angled relative to the third trough axis. In this manner, the reflector collects and reflects a sufficient amount of light while providing control over the beam pattern spread, particularly in the horizontal direction, whereby a single LED may be employed such that constraints imposed by heat dissipation are significantly reduced.

The central body extends in a vertical direction, while the side bodies are positioned on horizontal sides of the central body. The opposing side bodies are structured to collimate the light both horizontally and vertically, while the central light body is structured to collimate the light vertically but not substantially collimate the light horizontally.

摘要: A condenser lens and a headlamp assembly employing the condenser lens improves control over the beam spread characteristics, while at the same time reduces the package size of the headlamp assembly. The condenser lens is provided for a projector-type headlamp assembly having a light source emitting light which is projected longitudinally downstream in front of a motor vehicle. The condenser lens generally includes a main body of light transmitting material. The main body defines a first surface receiving light from the light source and a second surface emitting the light. The second surface has at least one facet structured to spread the light and provide a predetermined beam pattern.

摘要: A headlamp assembly for a motor vehicle. The headlamp assembly includes a lens and a housing cooperating to at least partially define an inner chamber that is generally fluidly isolated from the atmosphere. Mounted within the inner chamber is a one piece reflector having a reflective portion and a heat sink portion. The reflective portion reflects light from a light source forward through the lens, while the heat sink portion conducts heat from the reflective portion and dissipates the heat from the assembly.

摘要: An illuminator for use with a light source having a light distribution pattern within a solid angle of 2.pi. steradians. The light source comprises or includes a series of LED's or light pipes positioned at or near a focal point of a reflective surface and inclined at an angle to a focal axis of the reflective surface such that all of the light from the light source is collected and distributed by the reflective surface. Whereby the reflective surface is optimized to confine the light output only to the required photometric zones thus maximizing the efficiency of the illuminator.

摘要: An apparatus includes a reflective surface for high efficiency collection, transmission and emission of light. Light collected by an ellipsoidal and hyperboloidal portion of the reflective surface is directed into a light guide. Additionally, a paraboloidal portion may be added and used in combination with a lens element to distribute the light reflected by the reflective surface in a beam pattern. When used as an emitter lens profile is smaller than the overall diameter of the reflective surface. When used as a collector, the reflective surface receives and concentrates light onto the end of a light pipe.
