摘要: Devices, systems and methods facilitate positioning of a cardiac valve annulus treatment device, thus enhancing treatment of the annulus. Methods generally involve advancing an anchor delivery device through vasculature of the patient to a location in the heart for treating the valve annulus, contacting the anchor delivery device with a length of the valve annulus, delivering a plurality of coupled anchors from the anchor delivery device to secure the anchors to the annulus, and drawing the anchors together to circumferentially tighten the valve annulus. Devices generally include an elongate catheter having at least one tensioning member and at least one tensioning actuator for deforming a distal portion of the catheter to help it conform to a valve annulus. The catheter device may be used to navigate a subannular space below a mitral valve to facilitate positioning of an anchor delivery device.

摘要: A collet for holding a rotatable tool such as a bur or drill bit having a stepped shaft including a drive shaft having a stepped internal diameter mating with the external diameter of the bur or drill shaft, a plurality of hardened balls mounted in openings in the sleeve, a locking sleeve having a tapered surface movable with the force of a spring against the balls to force the balls against the shaft to lock the shaft in the sleeve. A rotatable locking collar is movable to release the spring force to release the shaft for removal and replacement of the tool.

摘要: An endoscopic surgical instrument suitable for use with a needle-grasper having a rotational translation device for creating rotational motion at the distal end of the surgical instrument in a non 1:1 ratio to rotational energy imparted at the handle of the surgical instrument. The shaft of the surgical instrument has an articulated segment capable of remote adjustment to articulate the effector unit at the end of the surgical instrument. The effector unit may be a needle-gripper having an upwardly pointed V-shaped notch in a channeled upper jaw, a convex gripping surface on the lower jaw, such that grasping a curved suture needle between the upper and lower jaw serves to automatically orient the needle perpendicular to the needle-gripper with the curvature pointed down. Conically tapered edges on the upper jaw further facilitate this orientation. A reciprocal motion transmission occurs between the handle and the effector unit so that gripping the levers on the handle serves to operate a function in the effector unit. The device is suitable for manual operation by a surgeon performing endoscopic surgical manipulations directly and without the intervention of motors or the like.
