摘要: A dual-channel sunload sensor capable of sensing the intensity and directionality of the solar radiative power entering the cabin of a car through the windshield, for the purpose of providing information to the data processing system of the car that enables a control of the air conditioning system that optimizes the comfort of the driver and of the front passenger. Signals from the sensor offer reliable indications of the solar load power and directionality for a wide range of angular positions of the sun. The sensor includes two convex transparent parts collecting light each toward a respective photodiode, the transparent parts being separated by an opaque portion.

摘要: A linear spectrometer for spectrally measuring an optical signal. The spectrometer has an input receiving the signal which is then diffracted onto a diffraction grating. The signal is therefore divided into its spectral components, each component being diffracted at an angle &thgr;. A correcting element, such as a lens, a group of lenses, a mirror, etc. is provided for focusing the spectral components on an image plane where they are detected. The correcting element is designed so that the resulting distribution of the spectral components on the image plane is linear with respect to the component's wavelength.

摘要: The present invention concerns a linear wavelength DWDM that is compact and is adapted for use with fibre ribbons and which compensates for the non-linear relationship between equally spectrally spaced wavelengths and physically spaced wavelengths once they have been diffracted. The device includes a first and second port in an optically transmissive medium. The ports are in optical communication with each other through a first and second mirror and a diffraction grating. Preferably, the first mirror is located opposite the first port, and is off-axis with respect to the optical axis. The diffraction grating is located on the same side as the input port, and is in optical communication with the first mirror. The second mirror is located on the same side as the first mirror and is in optical communication with the diffraction grating. The output port is slightly off-axis with respect to the optical axis of the second mirror and is in optical communication therewith. The device compensates for the non-linear relationship between equally spectrally spaced wavelengths and physically spaced wavelengths once they have been diffracted.

摘要: The present invention is directed to an optical system for measurement of a three dimensional device. The optical system is designed and configured to meet telecentric and f-.theta. requirements. The system employs primary and secondary mirrors operating in conjunction with a tertiary deflector mounted on a pivot. Light from a light source produces a beam which is deflected off the deflector and the secondary and primary reflectors respectively. The beam is then transmitted to the surface of the object to be measured. Deflection of the tertiary deflector on the pivot results in scanning of the light beam across the surface of the object to be measured.

摘要: A digital X-ray system for capturing high quality images by maximizing the collection of emitted light from an intensifying screen in response to X-ray impact. The digital X-ray system includes a housing having a fluorescent intensifying screen for receiving emitted X-rays, two reflectors for maximizing light collection and optimizing the light path from the intensifying screen, and a lens assembly. A CCD chip receives the light from the lens assembly, to provide a digital image for immediate on-board processing or post-processing by a computer. The housing is compact, and can be used as a direct replacement for traditional film cartridges without major modifications to the system. The lens assembly includes freeform matched lenses to remove optical distortions, and the housing includes a light sensor for providing exposure measurement and feedback. The system is designed to be quasi-monochromatic to maintain consistent image quality over the entire area of the intensifying screen.

摘要: An optical system for focusing an incident light so as to obtain a linear output (as a function of the wavelength, or of the order of diffraction, or of the grating spacial frequency or of the inverse of the index of refraction) comprises a diffraction grating and a lens, or a group of lenses, having a f-Sin(&thgr;) characteristic, where f is the effective focal length of the lens, or group of lenses, and &thgr; is an output angle of the light exiting from the diffraction grating. Therefore, a light incident on the diffraction grating reaches the lens, or the group of lenses, and results in a linear output. Using the present invention in a spectrometer reduces the time consuming calibration process required and renders it easier because of the linear output between wavelength and pixels positions. The lens, or group of lenses, has a diffractive, refractive or reflective property, or any combination thereof. The incident light can be a collimated, converging or diverging beam. The diffraction grating can be a plane, concave or convex grating.

At least one bundled core guide device, which is used for guiding and/or restraining a plurality of bundled cores, can be inserted into a first bushing region of a splitting apparatus on the first side in such a way that the bundled core guide device latches detachably with ribs and/or the bottom plate of the respective first bushing region. A second bushing region can receive the optical waveguides on the second side, wherein the optical waveguides are individual or loose from the bundled cores.

摘要: A system for characterizing an aspheric surface with respect to an expected shape thereof, comprising a light source to emit light of desirable properties. A ferrofluid deformable mirror apparatus has a reflective surface being controllably deformable. The reflective surface is shaped as a function of the expected shape so as to reflect light in a known path toward a detector. Optical elements project light from the light source onto the aspheric surface such that light is reflected along an expected path if the aspheric surface has the expected shape. Light is reflected from the aspheric surface along an actual path. The optical elements project light on the reflective surface of the ferrofluid deformable apparatus such that light is reflected along the known path. A detector receives light reflected along at least one of the actual path and the known path to obtain an interference pattern as a function of the expected path. Means are provided for interpreting the interference pattern so as to characterize the aspheric surface with respect to the expected shape.
