A mill roll with a deformable casing comprises a tubular casing (1), a fixed support (2) and a set of elements (3) for holding the casing in the radial directions. At least one chamber (9) fed with high-pressure fluid is formed between the fixed support (2) and each of the holding elements (3). The end of the holding elements (3) is separated from the inner surface of the casing (1) by means of a fluid film occupying a zone (12) in the form of a sector of a ring. The zone (12) is in communication, at one of its ends, with a low-pressure fluid feed duct (14) and, at its other end, with a fluid recovery duct (15). This results in the formation of a hydrodynamic bearing during the rotation of the casing (1), which is fed completely independently of the high-pressure supply to the chamber (9).

The position of one of the jacks (14b) is controlled by the thickness measurement. The pressure in the other jacks (14a, 14c, 14d, 14e) is controlled by the pressure in the one jack (14b). The positions of the end jacks (14a and 14e) are compared and the pressure in the jacks (14) is modified in order to bring the tilt of the roll to a suitable value. The deformation of the fixed support is calculated and the shape of the generatrix of contact of the roll is determined. The pressure in the jacks (14) is modified in order to bring the generatrix to a reference shape. The invention is particularly applicable to four-high rolling mills having variable camber supporting rolls.

Yellow Tropic and differing therefrom by its distinctive variegation that shows an extension of the yellow macule or coloration to substantially the whole leaf blade, excluding the central main vein, and deliniated by a distinctive green colored edge that extends around the entire circumference of the leaf without significant indentations toward the middle of the limb; this pattern of variegation and the combination of the colored areas give the new variety a luminous look which is typical of the Morlem variety; otherwise the Morlem variety has the characteristics of the parental Yellow Tropic variety.
