摘要: An apparatus and method for monitoring and diagnosing the coil temperature of a magnetorheological (MR) clutch connected to a power steering pump of a vehicle is disclosed. The apparatus includes a processing circuit, and a storage medium, readable by the processing circuit, for storing instructions for execution by the processing circuit for receiving a plurality of input signals representative of dynamic operating conditions relating to the vehicle, using the input signals to generate an output signal representative of a temperature of the coil of the MR clutch, determining from the output signal whether the temperature of the coil exceeds a threshold limit, and in response to the temperature of the coil exceeding a threshold limit, triggering at least one of a remedial action and a data storage algorithm.

摘要: A method for variable operation of a vehicle transmission using rough road sensing includes defining a first set of parameters to calibrate the vehicle transmission for a smooth road condition and a second set of parameters to calibrate the vehicle transmission for a rough road condition. The method includes sensing a road condition, generating a road condition signal corresponding to the road condition, and measuring a magnitude of the road condition signal. The method includes switching from the first set of parameters to the second set of parameters to operate the vehicle transmission when the magnitude of the road condition signal exceeds a first predetermined threshold. The method includes switching from the second set of parameters to the first set of parameters to operate the vehicle transmission when the magnitude of the road condition signal is less than a second predetermined threshold that is different than the first predetermined threshold.

摘要: The present invention relates to a start-stop “mild hybrid” vehicle with a starting system which utilizes traditional engine and transmission architecture. The present invention separates the pinion actuator solenoid from the starter motor power switching circuit. A power relay is provided to switch the starter motor. The pinion gear in the present invention is pre-shuttled to, and held in mesh with, the flywheel ring gear during engine stop conditions. A “prime current” is then applied to the power relay just below that which is required to energize the power relay. Upon request for an engine start, the current will increase to energize the relay and allow the starter motor to spin. A significant amount of time lag is thusly removed from the starting system permitting an expedient restart and launch. The pinion actuator solenoid in this invention may also have two coils which may be selectively energized.

摘要: An improved building construction panel used to protect the outside surfaces of a building from all forms of weather related damage is formed from two layers of corrugated members bonded to either side of an intermediate insulative sheet. The subject panel is treated to be moisture proof, weather resistant, fire resistant, not attractive to insets, fungus and/or mold and uses only environmentally friendly materials. The construction of the subject panel promotes the rebounding of objects striking its outer surface without damage to the panel.

摘要: A method of determining diagnostic limits for a vane position sensing system installed in a variable nozzle turbocharger (VNT). The method includes defining mechanical input probability distribution functions (PDFs) of the VNT, describing the vane position sensing system in terms of component models and defining component parameter PDFs for parameters associated with the component models. Vane position signal PDFs based are generated on the mechanical input PDFs, the component models and the component parameter PDFs, and diagnostic limits are set for the vane position sensing system based on the vane position signal PDFs.

摘要: A fault detection system for detecting a fault in a lifter oil manifold assembly (LOMA) of a displacement on demand engine that is operable during transition from activated and deactivated modes includes a first fluid circuit of the LOMA that selectively provides pressurized fluid to regulate operation of the engine between activated and deactivated modes. The fault detection system further includes a sensor that is responsive to fluid pressure of the LOMA and that generates a pressure signal based thereon. A control module outputs a control signal to switch operation of the engine between the activated and deactivated modes. The control module further determines a pressure differential based on a first pressure prior to switching between the modes and a second pressure after switching between the modes.

摘要: A solenoid driver generates a current signal to drive a solenoid of a lifter oil manifold assembly (LOMA) to switch a displacement on demand engine between activated and deactivated modes. The solenoid driver includes a current module that generates the current signal based on a duty cycle signal and a switching module that regulates the duty cycle signal based on the activated and deactivated modes. The duty cycle signal is 100% for a first period after the engine switches to the deactivated mode and is variable for a second period after the first period.
