摘要： A high voltage ion propulsion field is applied across the length of an ion mobility spectrometer that is divided by a barrier wall into a desolvation region and a drift tube. A plume of ions and solvent is electrosprayed into the desolvation region, and ions are propelled from the desolvation region through the drift tube to an ion target. Drift gas flows through the drift tube in the opposite direction to oppose the ion flow. A portal in the barrier wall permits ions to move from the desolvation region into the drift tube, and restricts flow of drift gas from the drift tube into the desolvation region. The resulting drift gas velocity increase effects desolvation without requiring elevated temperature or decreased pressure. An ion gate is located near the portal and an aperture grid is located near the ion target. The drift gas flow rate is varied to change the ionization spectra to alter selectivity.

摘要： An in-vehicle switch mechanism for guiding a vehicle along a guideway at converging and diverging points of the guide rails in a guided vehicle system includes a support frame; a pivot assembly; a switch arm assembly pivotably mounted at its proximate end to the pivot assembly; a switch wheel rotatably mounted to the switch arm assembly at its distal end; an actuator for moving the switch arm between a deployed position in which the switch wheel engages a guide rail and a stowed position in which the switch wheel is free of the guide rail; and a biasing device interconnected between the support frame and pivot assembly for pre-loading the switch wheel against the guide rail when the switch wheel is deployed as the vehicle approaches the point of divergence; and an in-vehicle switch system which uses such in-vehicle switch mechanisms.

摘要： A production circuit tuning tool consisting of a cover and a number of feed-through, gold-tipped probes that adjust the performance of an underlying circuit. The probes are positioned in the cover so that they may act as temporary jumpers between the trace wiring and tuning patches on the circuit substrate. The portion of the probe that bridges the patches comprises a slender nonconductive plunger of low dielectric constant material having a gold plated tip. Once the proper combination of jumpers is determined, the tuning tool cover is removed, permanent jumpers are soldered into place and a regular production cover is installed.
