    摘要: A shielded connector assembly has first and second housings (11, 31). The first housing (11) has a fitting space (17) formed with coupling ribs (16). A shielding shell (26) is in the fitting space (17) and has slits (27) that receive the coupling ribs (16). A preventing groove (29) is formed in a peripheral surface of a fitting space (17) and receives a projection (37) of the second housing (31) when the housings (11, 31) are connected properly. The preventing groove (29) is aligned with the slit (27) so that the slit (27) also receives the projection (37). Thus, it is unnecessary to form a separate notch to receive the projection (37).

    摘要: To effect water-proofing using a non-water-proof type of female connector, a non-water-proof female connector (20) is fitted with a concave fitting member (12) of a male connector (10), a cover assembly (30) fitting with both the female connector (20) and the concave fitting member (12). The cover assembly (30) is provided with a ring-shaped seal (40) which fits tightly with the rim of the circumference of the fitting member (12), thereby sealing the portions of the two connectors (10) and (20) that fit together. A gel seal (45) is compressed between the cover assembly (30) and the rear face of the female connector (20), this preventing water from entering via terminal attachment holes (21) on the rear face of the female connector (20).

    摘要: A circuit board connector housing (10) includes slide contacts (19) arranged before contact areas (16) of detecting terminals (15A) with respect to a connecting direction. The slide contacts (19) contact touching portions (30) of shorting terminals (27) during a connecting operation of two housings (10, 20). The slide contacts (19) remove foreign matter from the touching portions (30) during the connecting operation of the two housings (10, 20). Thus, extra efforts to remove foreign matter are not needed before the housings (10, 20) are connected. The absence of foreign matter on the touching portions (30) achieves good quality contact with the contact areas (16) of the detecting terminals (15A) and assures reliability of a connection detecting function.

    摘要: A one-piece type waterproof rubber plug 30 is formed with round insertion holes 32 whose inner surfaces can be held in sealing contact with the outer surfaces of a plurality of wires 18 individually inserted into the insertion holes 32 to protect them from water. Female terminal fittings 14 having a box-shaped connection portion 15 are introduced into the insertion holes 32. In the inner surfaces of the insertion holes 32 are formed slits 50 in positions corresponding to corner portions 16 of the connection portions 15. While the female terminal fittings 14 are passing the insertion holes 32 by deforming them, the corner portions 16 enter the slits 50, thereby forcibly opening the slits 50 wider to form clearances 51. The corner portions 16 advance along the clearances 51. This prevents the corner portions 16 from damaging or scratching the inner surfaces of the insertion holes 32. After the passage of the female terminal fittings 14, the insertion holes 32 elastically narrow to close the clearances 51, with the result that the lips 33 are held in sealing contact with the outer surfaces of the wires 18. The insertion holes may include guides (140) for passage of terminal stabilizers (25). The guides (140) include closed sealing slits (150) to be forced open by passage of the stabilizers.

    摘要: In order to detect via an external circuit whether male and female connector housings 1 and 2 have been correctly fitted together, a short-circuiting terminal 19 which bends when a locking arm 10 bends either short circuits or fails to short circuit a pair of detecting terminals 7 located on the male housing 1. The area surrounding the short-circuiting terminal 19 is surrounded by an interior protecting wall which is covered by a flexible sealing cover 27. The sealing cover covers only the short-circuiting terminal and the locking arm remains exposed. The upper face of the interior protecting wall has an opening 25A. When the locking arm 19 is bent while the housings are being fitted, the short-circuiting terminal 19 is moved via the sealing cover 27 and the short-circuiting terminal and the detecting terminals 7 separate.
