    摘要: According to the invention, a rotor is provided having a cylindrical core and a protective can closely fit and secured with the core. The core is provided with two axially spaced, annular reliefs spaced inwardly from points of welding which secure the can and core and connected by at least two circumferentially spaced, axial reliefs. To effect removal of the can, a cutting tool is extended through the can along the extent of the reliefs. With the cuts completed, access sections are defined and are separable from the core. The remainder of the can, including the weld material, can be machined off using conventional techniques.

A brushless generator assembly having a main field structure and an exciter rotor are disposed on the axis and are connected to the output to be driven thereby. A permanent magnet generator for energizing the exciter includes a permanent magnet assembly rotatable about the axis and contained within the constant speed drive unit. The invention provides an in-line drive generator with minimal frontal area as well as a shortened axial length.

    摘要: A high speed shaftless rotor construction is disclosed including a method of sequentially building up the rotor to facilitate disassembly for reworking and maintaining precise alignment of the reassembled elements. End turn supports are matched and preliminarily assembled with bolts to the core and the parts machined to achieve desired tolerances. After machining, the end turn supports are separated from the core, matched with end shaft fittings and additional machining carried out, after which the turn supports are separated from the end shaft fittings and reattached with the core. The shaft fittings are realigned with the assembled end support fittings and bolted into position after which final machining can be completed. All elements are then disassembled and the parts deburred and cleaned to eliminate any contamination prior to winding the field coil. After reassembly, winding of the field core and completion of the electrical connections, a cylindrical sleeve is disposed over the main core assembly and conventionally joined to effect a rigid structural rotor member capable of withstanding high speeds.

Fasteners (78) within the slots (60) secure the combination terminal/mounting posts (76) to the corresponding bus (70) in electrical contact therewith.

    摘要: A rotary electric machine including a housing having a stator. The stator includes an armature winding with end turns extending from opposite ends thereof. A rotor is journalled within the housing and the stator and is separated from the stator by an air gap. At least two nozzles are located within the housing, one adjacent each end of the armature, and directed at an associated set of end turns. A pair of partitions are disposed within the housing, one for each end of the armature. Each partition is located axially outwardly of the associated end turns and nozzle. A first air gap seal includes a resilient gasket sealingly engaging a corresponding one of the partitions and the tips of the adjacent end turns while a second air gap seal includes sheet-like seals interposed between layers of the end turns.
