    Abstract: An ammonia generation apparatus is disposed in a stage after a urea water injection unit. The ammonia generation apparatus includes a main body which has an introduction opening for introducing exhaust gas, a discharge opening for discharging the exhaust gas, a first flow passage and a second flow passage which communicate with the introduction opening and the discharge opening and which are separated from each other. The ammonia generation apparatus includes a heating unit disposed in the first flow passage, and a first changeover section which is disposed on one side of the main body where the introduction opening is provided and which can switch the exhaust gas flow passage between the first flow passage and the second flow passage.

    Abstract: A protector includes an inside protector having an inside peripheral wall and a front end wall in a front end side thereof and a tubular outside protector which surrounds the inside protector. In an outside peripheral wall of the outside protector, a plurality of outside introducing ports through which an external part of the outside protector communicates with a gas separating chamber are formed at equal intervals along a circumferential direction. The outside introducing ports are formed at positions nearer to the front end side than positions where inside introducing ports of the inside protector are formed. The outside introducing ports extend in the circumferential direction of the outside peripheral wall and formed in shapes of lateral holes in which opening lengths in the circumferential direction are larger than opening lengths in the direction perpendicular to the circumferential direction.

    Abstract: A catalyst apparatus is disposed in an exhaust passage for exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine and includes a catalyst section for purifying the exhaust gas, and a heater section disposed upstream of the catalyst section in the exhaust passage and adapted to heat the exhaust gas. The heater section is configured such that a plurality of metal thin plates and insulators are stacked alternatingly are wound. The heater section contains a pair comprising a positive electrode and a negative electrode for energizing and heating the metal thin plates. The positive and negative electrodes are joined to each of the metal thin plates in such a manner that the positive electrode is located away from the negative electrode in a winding direction of the metal thin plates.
