摘要: A method for dispersing a water-insoluble phase containing a hydrophobic, photographically useful compound in water or a hydrophilic colloid composition using an anionic surface active agent is disclosed, which comprises dispersing the hydrophobic, photographically useful compound by using an anionic surface active agent having a hydrophobic group and a group represented by --SO.sub.3 M or --OSO.sub.3 M (where M represents a cation) and a specific phosphorus-containing surface active compound, or, adding the anionic surface active agent for dispersion, and after the completion of dispersion further adding the specific phosphorus-containing surface active compound. According to the dispersion method of the present invention, a dispersion favored with maintenance of fine particle performance at the dispersion and free of grain growth during aged storage or generation of coarse grains or precipitated crystals can be obtained.

摘要: A part of a drive roller, whose peripheral surface is coated with an elastic body, is immersed in a cleaning liquid, and the rotation of the drive roller causes the surface of the elastic body to be wet with the cleaning liquid. The elastic body wet with the cleaning liquid continuously rubs a surface of a film being fed. Then, a wash nozzle sprays a cleaning liquid to the surface that has been rubbed by the elastic body. A shearing stress of the elastic body rubs off foreign matter adhering to the film. The foreign matter that has not been rubbed off by the elastic body is washed off by the cleaning liquid sprayed from the wash nozzle.

摘要: A novel method of producing an optical film is disclosed. The method comprises steps (1) to (3) in this order: (1) preparing, on a surface of an alignment film, a layer of a polymerizable composition comprising a polymerizable liquid crystal compound and a dichroic polymerization initiator; (2) aligning molecules of said polymerizable liquid crystal compound in said layer in a first alignment state; and (3) irradiating said layer with polarized ultraviolet light to carry out polymerization of said polymerizable liquid crystal compound and fix molecules of said polymerizable liquid crystal compound in a second alignment state thereby to form an optically anisotropic layer, wherein a percentage of polarized ultraviolet light having an extinction ratio ranging from 1 to 8 is not greater than 15% with respect to an energy density of polarized ultraviolet light per unit area (J/cm2).

摘要: According to the present invention, since the concavo-convex pattern of the embossing form is formed by electrical discharge machining, the peaks on the surface of the resultant embossing form are all of the same level or height, which enables the enhancement of the service life of the embossing form. Further, since the concavo-convex pattern of the embossing form is formed by electrical discharge machining, even a complicated and minute concavo-convex pattern can be formed. Accordingly, when applying the method of the present invention to, for example, the production of a substrate for a lithographic plate, an aluminum substrate for a lithographic plate which excels in plate wear, sensitivity and resistance to stains can be produced. And when applying the same to the production of an aluminum decorative laminate, an aluminum decorative laminate which excel in glossiness and paint adhesion can be produced.
