The mobile telephone updates a shopping list when the consumer scans an item. The consumer uploads the shopping list at a payment terminal at the checkout via an NFC link. The payment terminal connects with a price look up (PLU) database and downloads the price data for the items in the shopping list to provide a total price. The payment terminal requests authorisation of the total price from the consumer's financial authorisation.

摘要： Various embodiments herein each include at least one of systems, methods, data structures, and software for document image processing within a device such as a retail scanner. One such embodiment, in the form of a method, includes receiving a document image from an imaging device of a scanner and determining a type of the document represented in the document image. The document image may then be processed to obtain document metadata and the document image and metadata representative of the document metadata and document type are added to a data structure. This method may further include adding transaction-related metadata to the data structure. The data structure may then be stored on the scanner, transmitted via local communications link to a host device, transmitted via a network to a database for storage, or transmitted via a network to another system for one or both of processing and storage.

摘要： Systems and techniques for identifying the presence of a jamming signal impairing the operation of an RFID reader. An RFID reader includes a signal strength detector that detects and measures the signal strength of signals within a prescribed frequency range typical of that used by RFID devices. If a signal within the frequency range and exceeding a predetermined maximum strength is detected, the reader identifies the presence of a jamming signal impairing the proper operation of the reader. The reader takes appropriate action upon identification of a jamming signal, for example issuing a local alert or alarm, or sending a message to a central security station, which may then take appropriate action in response to the message, such as alerting appropriate personnel, sounding alarms or securing exits.

A storage device includes storage, a processor, and a wireless transceiver, as well as a connector allowing the storage device to operate according to an appropriate standard when connected to a playback or data device. The storage device can communicate with a data transfer station to wirelessly receive data from the station. A user may select data to be transferred to a removable media device, and the station transfers the data over a wireless connection. The removable media device stores the data in memory as it is received. Once the data has been received, the data can be played or otherwise used in any playback or data device to which the storage device may be connected for use as a memory device.
