Abstract: Disclosed are heparin conjugates comprising heparin conjugated to a peptide that binds to a protein of the extracellular matrix (ECM) of cellular tissue, such as a collagen-binding peptide that binds to collagen of the ECM. The disclosed heparin conjugates may be utilized in methods that include treating ECM material to incorporate the heparin conjugates and impart anticoagulant activity to the ECM. The disclosed heparin conjugates also may be formulated as pharmaceutical compositions for treating and/or preventing vascular injuries and conditions.

Abstract: Compositions comprising endothelial cells (ECs) differentiated from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC)that over-express Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) are disclosed. Further disclosed are methods of preparation of the compositions, and methods for treating a subject comprising administering transplatanbe cells, tissue, or organ comprising the iPSC-derived ECs overexpressing SIRT1, as well as methods of testing an agent for therapeutic efficacy and toxicity using the compositions.

Abstract: Provided herein are bioactivated polymer/extracellular matrix (ECM) composites and methods of preparation and use thereof. In particular, heparinized cysteine-polymer/ECM composites, and methods of preparation and use thereof, are provided. In some embodiments, provided herein are compositions comprising a composite of: (a) extracellular matrix (ECM), and (b) a polyester covalently linked to a bioactive agent. In some embodiments, the composite is a homogeneous composite. In some embodiments, the ECM is decellularized ECM. In some embodiments, the ECM is not substantially crosslinked.
